These Two Books Can Help

Books sounds like valuable reads. Peter Bregman is evidently a very smart guy. Thanks for such a detailed review of his book. I will add that to my list. Am also a big fan of Anne Lamott. Great post. Glad I found your blog, Kivi.

Re: When “Go Big or Go Home” is Bullshit

Karri, It's as though you read my mind. There are so many points you made that are EXACTLY what have been bouncing around in my head...it was almost eerie.

Appreciate your husband's advice and appreciate you sharing it.

Re: Good Debt, Bad Debt and the “Premium” Coaching Program

Excllent post and topic for discussion.

I believe that in many cases the marketing message is created solely to justify the exhorbitant fee. Unrealistic promises are made and the buyer, well, BUYS the hype. Accepting payment via borrowed funds is unethical if we are not being truthful about the legitimacy of our ROI promise. But unfortunately the people who are making false claims are unlikely to see themselves as con artists (and instead will applaud themselves for their marketing mastery) and therefore would not identify themselves as unethical when their clients go into debt in order to work with them.

And don't get me started on coaches who assert that their "hourly fee is $2,500 but you can get this incredible 10-hour package for the same fee -- for a limited time". I'm saddened for humanity that people actually fall for that. I'm afraid I'd need to see the cancelled checks before I'll believe the $2500/hour figure.

Re: Marcus Aurelius’ Six Timeless Observations on Life

I like to take things like these and put them on notes where I will find them "accidentally". It never fails that I run across one of them at exactly the moment I needed to remember it. As it happens, this entire post was received at just the right moment.

Thanks.

Re: Productivity Gurus & Bloggers on Friendfeed

Well, crud. I think this all comes from me being a technophobe and being
concerned that I go about connecting in the right way. I went and looked
at FriendFeed a little more and am getting a better handle on what it is
and how it works. So I may be catching on. It ever occurred to me that
my FriendFeed profile would automatically generate a big list of my blog
posts.

Thanks for getting back in touch. And frankly, thanks for letting me
know the deal in the first place. I'm reading and subscribing to some of
the blogs Zee listed Great stuff there.

All the best,

Mary

Re: Productivity Gurus & Bloggers on Friendfeed

Zee,

Evidently I messed up because in my effort to connect with other productivity bloggers I did it in the wrong way. Note to self: don't do that again. I got an e-mail letting me know I had crossed a boundary, and I'm sure sorry. I'm new and learning about all this. Didn't mean to be a blogjerk.

Re: Productivity Gurus & Bloggers on Friendfeed

Hi Roger,

I sure didn't mean to do anything inappropriate or pushy. These ways of
connecting are all new to me and frankly, pretty confusing. It started
with a post asking for other productivity bloggers to provide their site
if they wanted to be included on a list. So I just did that. And then I
got a reply message that said I needed to be on FriendFeed, which I
hadn't heard of but sounded interesting. I'll know for the future I'm
better off waiting until I understand it completely before I put myself
out there. I'm so sorry for the intrusion. Once I figure out how to
contribute appropriately, I'll do that too.

All the best,

Mary

Re: Productivity Gurus & Bloggers on Friendfeed

Got it. http://friendfeed.com/maryck

Re: Productivity Gurus & Bloggers on Friendfeed

What a great list!
