Strong leadership, a coordinated effort to ensure each business feels the benefits, and the stamina to realize the long view are critical for this to succeed. JPM has a good shot. They have the footprint and, judging from Frank's comments, a very strong leadership team too.

Re: http://www.plgna.org/post/1419105190

Hope to see at the next one... in the meantime, stay posted for committee meetings. He and his friends sold ice tea, cake, and cookies. It was fascinating to watch. Lot's of stuff happened behind the scenes, but the interesting part was the sales process.

I learned the following from Lucas about successful sales.
1. Be proud of your product... or create a product you can be proud of.
2. Be honest
3. Don't assume someone doesn't want your product. Talk to them anyway.
4. Be responsive to customers... they never once said "no" to a customer.
5. Have fun

Re: 93 Photos of Summer

We've been inspired to revisit our local museums after coming back from our European trip. Frank LLoyd Wright was the main attraction... A genius for sure. The design for a mile high building was spectacular. That would be 4 to 5 times taller than the Empire State Building. Sadly some of his best designs were never realized.

It also brought back memories of friends who studied architecture while at Cornell. I hope to see them at the Guggenheim some day.

Re: 93 Photos of Summer

Dolca and Alex rode their new bikes to the beach. While Lucas played with his friends outside, I got to simply chill. Just before I could begin to hate my "freedom", I dropped an 8" chef knife on my toe. ouch... Last year I had my finger stitched up due to an accident with that same knife, while my family was out. 'Til death do us part I guess.

Re: 93 Photos of Summer

Some friends invited us to a BBQ and Movie... both in their yard. The lobster and burgers were amazing. The feature was "Queen or Outer Space" (1958) with Zsa Zsa Gabor. Campy, but I loved it.

Re: rssCloud news (Scripting News)

if you use Firefox/Greasemonkey you might be able to use the following script to RT/Reply/fave/follow/sharelinks from tweets in Google Reader

http://userscripts.org/scri...

Re: Getting Started With Posterous

nice primer... I've started experimenting with posterous So far so good. I'm fascinated by the Autopost. I like that it's store-and-forward as oppose to the just forward like say, ping.fm. I also like that I collect my content up front in Posterous, then push out. As oppose to pushing out from many sources then collecting, like FriendFeed.

While my experience with Posterous is overwhelmingly positive, I do have two peeves.

No Theme-ing: Simplicity is one of it's virtues, but I would love to have some theme-ing like tumblr.

Lo-fidelity Autopost from Bookmarklet: rather than broadcast to all platforms, I would like to select which services to post to. Other than that, the bookmarklet is awesome.

BTW. their support is awesome too. perhaps they're still small enough to keep support personal and responsive.

Re: 93 Photos of Summer

My dad impressed me once when he built a kite... a darn good one. We flew it over Central Park in Manhattan, far beyond the park above some buildings. People stood around with binoculars to watch. We also flew our kites above Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. We had hoped to become famous for our kite flying by appearing on TV during baseball games. It never happened:(

I forgot how much fun it was to fly kites.

Yesterday we flew our kite in Prospect Park. There wasn't enough wind to really get it out there, but me and my son Lucas had fun none-the-less. On the way home, he turned to me and said, "Dad, that was so much fun. Let's do it again tomorrow".

Re: 93 Photos of Summer

I was in Chicago flying back to NYC when I finished the book. The door was over-protective and made you feel like you were trying to keep something out. We finally replaced it with a glass panel door.

As for the 4 years, those of you experienced with home improvement projects can understand why a simple project like this took so long. The reasons are somewhat mysterious but common. My neighbor has been working on his windows for 30 years.

Re: 93 Photos of Summer

That's Dolca in the black dress.
