Hi Eileena,

There is an Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) that is a website where you can report these types of issues. I reported the person who tried to scam me and I received a phone call from an Agent who is investigating these types of crimes.

Hi,

For the most part, these parasites are sitting in an Internet cafe with 8 to 10 people all possing as someone's true love. They all have the same sob story; widow/widower, usually 1 child, works as an Engineer in some sort of oil business and/or is in the military, looking to settle down with a 'good' woman, and they always claim to be religious.

These creeps know exactly what they are doing. That is why they want you to get on an IM right away; so they can 'cut and paste' most of the conversation.

If you really want to throw them for a loop, ask them personal questions; such as, how long was the flight from their (supposedly) home base to where they are working on this project. Ask them questions about their child and about their 'dead' spouse. They will take their time in responding as they are trying to find out what the correct answer is.

Last but not least, these parasites hate to be called 'Scammers'. As soon as you call them a 'Scammer' they will get very angry. At this point, you will not hear from him/her again. They will move on to their next victim.

Hi,

I used to get a number of emails of this type. Send them money so they can 'release some (supposedly) legal document and/or a check in a large sum of money, etc. I used to read them and reply with a 'piece of my mind' response. Then I found out that is exactly what these scumbags want you to do. That way, they have your email address to further try and scam you. Originally when scammers send out these emails, they are sending them out by the dozen. If you respond and/or reply to them, they have your correct email address and will continue to bug you. Best thing to do is to send them to your 'SPAM' folder. Unless you recognize the email address, I wouldn't even open it! Also, by opening this type of email, you are opening up yourself to a virus being sent by one of these jerks!

Unfortunately, these low-life scammers are everywhere; especially on the dating sites. This guy is definitely a scammer. He used some of the oldest tricks in the book of scams. (1) Robbed; (2) Is in the Hospital. You were very smart to call the Embassy and not send any money to this jerk. These parasites prey on good-caring people. Kick this jerk to the curb!

When I receive these sort of emails, I don't open them; however, I enter them into the 'SPAM' Folder. Also, you can block their email addresses so they will automatically go into your 'SPAM' Folder.

There is a web site, "Internet Crime Complaint Center, IC3" you can find on the Internet. This complaint goes directly to the FBI.

In order for this situation to stop, we all need to report what happened to us! Educating and keeping others abrupt of these creeps so they will not fall into the same trap we did is a step in the right direction.

Write your Major, Write your Senator, Write your Governor, anyone you can think of in office. Let's spread the word!

We fall for these people thinking we met someone to share out life with only to find out that it was all an act to get their hands on our hard earned money. Trying to grasp that is devasting! What kind of a person does that to another human being? A parasite, low-life piece of trash!

First of all, you are a good friend for being so concerned!

This creep is definitely a scammer! He has the same 'sob' story that most scammers use.

* In Nigeria building roads;
* Got mugged;
* Asks for money for him and his son for hospital bills
* Uses the same circumstances as before (being mugged & hospital bills) because it worked before to get money from your friend.

This guy is a trained criminal and your friend is a victim to a crime. Please try and convince her that he will tell her anything to gain her trust so he can rob her blind!

I have a suggestion: When you get these emails from these scumbags, hit the "spam" button on your computer. After doing that, those emails should automatically go to your spam folder.

Yes, they are scumbags. What is sad, is that their government and police departments are on their payroll. (Organized crime) The US governement won't do anything because these scammers (for the most part) are out of their jurisdiction. Also, it is a very difficult crime to prove. All we can do is educate our fellow Americans to be safe when it comes to the Internet. Bottom line: If it is too good to be true, it is!

I can certainly understand the reason behind you wanting to get back at that low-life; however, please be careful. These scammers have many contacts, afterall, they are trained criminals. If this creep has your address and/or any personal information, it would be best not to play any games with him or any other scammers for that matter.

Once again, I understand where you are coming from! When I was scammed, I wanted to do the same until after I became active in various groups regarding scamming and I heard some of the stories that these creeps are capable of doing to innocent people, like yourself.

Leaving an area, relocating to another and being in an accident is a very popular scam used by these scumbags. Being in an accident and needing money for hospital bills, being robbed, being held hostage for ransom, need money for airfair or some other sort of transportation, is all part of the game that these parasites use to try and get their hands on someone's hard-earned money. Best thing to do is delete them from any contact and move-on.

You might "Google" his name and see what info comes up. Also, his Dad is being held hostage in Nigeria? Did this person ask you for money? Please be careful. Unfortunately, this is a very popular scam. Never give out any information to anyone over the internet unless you personally know them or know that the business is 100% legitimate. There is a website that you can report this sort of issue to; it is, "Internet Crime Complaint Center". However, I wouldn't expect a reply from them as there is so many scams now-a-days. You might also write to your Governor/Senator/Assemblyman and voice your opinion on Scammers.

Unfortunately, these people are seldom arrested because their government and police departments are on their payroll. About the only avenue we can take as victims is educate as many people as we can about being scammed. There is a website "Internet Complaint Center (IC3)" which is a form that you can submit a complaint. Good Luck!
