We have only had to ban one person. We have also had to speak to a couple of folks regarding language (NOT swearing). Most of the time, as article points out, you let someone try a *take two*. Maybe you did not know WHY that was improper to say, but, that's cool you understand now- let's try it again :) Make NO doubt, if needed, a person would be escorted away if needed. To chase away Frankensteins monster, etc, I will hand out torches freely. (The permanent ban? He put his fingers in a woman's nose. Yes really. She joked later about how many things would be more forgivable. Banhammers are needed, just use sparingly please ;D

Re: CURBING ONLINE ABUSE IS NOT IMPOSSIBLE

Almost, The townspeople need to ban together sometimes, and scare away the monsters. Looking at the stats, and the Googles, you dont appear to be a horrible troll Bob. I think you are a football fan, that likes to eat popcorn - and watch the world burn. And *sometimes* - you just enjoy getting a chuckle out of folks. Watch some more George Carlin- and realize your lot is likely beter than most - and focus on humour :D

Re: Red Hat releases Fedora 19 with 3D printing support

I understand some of the details may appear complicated, BUT, as a Fedoran- I feel the need to point out we are sponsored partially by RedHat. We have all sorts of volunteers NOT associated with RH.

Yes- most of our releases have been late, that may be a price for having a project that allows contributors to VOTE. The Fedora Project gives us a voice. The main reason for the delay was due to our new graphical installer upgrade for Anaconda Installer as well as the awesome Kickstart. Opinions are my OWN and do not necessarily reflect Fedora, RH or any other project I am part of :)

Re: OSCON Nonprofit Pavilion deals with limited space

Ben, my awesome friend, neither you or I can speak for the *whole vibrant Community of Ubuntu*. If you ask FFPL (Fearless Fedora Project Lead) she would tell you that she speaks for the project on the whole. She would not claim to represent *every* voice in Fedora. She's awesome, that's how she rolls....

Re: OSCON Nonprofit Pavilion deals with limited space

Restrained due to a *choice* on OSCON's part. If they *choose* to place money first and foremost, that is up to them. Not having the two large Distros seems like a bit offputting to many I have spoken with in the Community (we are nopt talking about SMALL projects). We get to decide if they are relevant accordingly. Again here, I would like nothing more than to find that table space appears, and then the account can go *dormant* :)

Re: OSCON Nonprofit Pavilion deals with limited space

*They* do not, typo <sigh> :)

Re: OSCON Nonprofit Pavilion deals with limited space

Thank you for the attention to this very important issue Brian. First, I want to make very clear that my opinions are my own. The do NOT represent any FOSS project I am part of. I am questioning OSCON's relevance to the Community. I look forward to having a chance to clarify my intent here (as well as my respect for the great O'Reilly peoples). Until then here is my quote " OSCON has always existed in the middle of the community-corporate spectrum. On one side, you have shows like SCALE, by community, for community. And on the other, you have shows like OSBC, where there are no free passes. OSCON has always tried to balance the two. They aren't doing as well as in the past, IMHO"

A more lengthy response has been posted on my Google+ profile; https://plus.google.com/u/0...

Re: Twitter Welcome

Good website. I am glad you are following me & now; I follow you.
I've been an IT guy, sys-admin, & also a computer teacher. Because of these experiences - I am the guy everyone asks technical questions. One of the hardest things to fully explain is Twitter. Now I can just point them to your website & save some time for something better - #Ubuntu.

Re: Understanding Linux Lingo - Some Common Linux Terms

Very concise article. You have made understanding Linux much easier. Many people over-explain or very technical language. The only other thing you could have explained is; what Ubuntu means besides 'Humanity towards others'. Ubuntu means you don't need to even know some of this stuff - Ubuntu - 'just works'.

Re: 26 Places to Find Free Multimedia for Your Blog

Very good list of places to find Creative Commons & more. I plan on putting this on my social media sites. I am part of a group that teaches people how to use technology easily. One of the hardest thing to explain is how CC works; pointing to your article should help. We have had to re-do the site because sometimes explanations are less important than showing 'ideas in action.
http://www.gidgetkitchen.org/
