I don't recall ever reading that he confronted the terrorists, or was even aware that they were approaching him. I see that Officer Collier was awarded the Medal of Honor, the highest of 4 levels of the Hanna Award. looked up the criteria for the award on the state's website:

"Awarded to a police officer that demonstrates actions above and beyond the call of duty, in the face of certain and imminent danger to life and limb.

The Medal of Honor award has historically been reserved for those acts which:
Are performed in the course of a dangerous incident; to save/protect the life of a colleague or citizen; in selfless disregard for the officer’s own safety. Often result in great cost to the officer (including loss of life).

Medal of Honor recipients should display the highest levels of professionalism, competence, leadership, and clear thinking during a dangerous incident while on or off duty."

In the military, awards for bravery are only awarded for heroism in the face of enemy action. There are various levels of medals, culminating in the Medal of Honor. Those who have the misfortune of being killed in action without any conspicuous gallantry receive a Purple Heart, not a Bronze or Silver Star.

Could the Herald share with readers the nomination paper for Officer Collier, and for that matter, the Watertown officers who engaged in the shootout, showing what specific actions the recipients performed in line with the above criteria?

Re: Chabot: Seth Moulton fights for John Tierney’s Lynn backers

"The city [Lynn] is the second largest city in the 6th Congressional District."
