I often see bloggers and others asking about an American Taskmaster. Why bother, when the British one is so good? Between the Brits, the Americans, the Canadians and there has been at least one African, why not just a really good, global show?

I'll second 12 and 5 is great, but FWIW, when I'm suggesting a series to start watching Taskmaster, I usually point toward 4. The whole season is a delight and there's not a weak member of the cast, plus a lot of Americans know Noel and Mel from Bake-off.

My comment was toward the bloggers taking meaningless comments out of context and blowing them up to be much more, simply because so many of them write the same thing from a literal single source.

Though, I did invoke Trump because I think if there had been more analysis of what tariffs would do to the prices at Walmart and less about how Hannibal Lector is a fictional character, the lection might have had a different result.

Because it is nonsense about nothing. In this case, a Dad joke while with Trump, it was gallons of virtual ink spilled about Hannibal Lector and other nonsense things he'd say, which he'd then take delight into saying again and again.

An old man made a joke. Without hearing the delivery, I read it more like the younger Reitman should be embarrassed because his career was that he made such a film. Not that it was a bad film, but that it was unimportant stuff.

It reads to me like Chase was being lighthearted and it was like his seal of approval. It also sounds (from reading) that to Mr. Reitman, it is his "Chevy Chase story".

What I find troubling are all of these articles taking a humorous quip and a pretty innocuous podcast story and turning it into something it is not.

One could argue that the proliferation of this kind of misleading clickbait is one of the reasons Donald Trump is going to be president. A lot of normal folks have made a similar joke and they're not as invested in tearing people for nothing or the TV show "Community".

I have no reason to doubt her and I totally beleive her allegations, but you also have to consider that one is a well-liked actress who has done well with her roles and in the public eye for a couple of decades, who is also friends with Taylor Swift and married to Ryan Reynolds, while the other is somebody from "Jane the Virgin" and I'm pretty certain he wasn't the virgin.

You really have to wonder how deep is his delusion that he thought he'd come out on top in this.

What makes you weird is that you care so much about some guy on TV. What is it to you? Is he your brother-in-law or something? To most of us, he's just some guy who tells jokes. You might leave the TV on if he's coming up next, but for most of us that's pretty much it.

Lots of people have been in and out of rehab. For some who can afford it, it's their regular thing.

The Russians did interfere in the 2016 via social media and people were indicted, charged and convicted. The fact that it may not have been Trump himself or that Trump was not charged does not make the investigation unworthwhile or a hoax.

Van der Veen is the founder of the law firm that hired Castor in December. It appears his name was added to the roster on the Monday before the trial which started on Tuesday. This likely explains why he didn't get the House Manager's packet of evidence until the trial had started, while the other two may have had it previously because they had been Trump's lawyers for at least a week.

(This was another nonsensical claim van der Veen kept putting out there.)

One would think that van der Veen's name was only added so his firm could pad their billing, but then when Castor got to such a rocky start that Trump wanted to fire him and Schoen had agreed to skip half the trial, it was left to van der Veen to twist in the wind.

It would have been nice if someone in the media or one of the House Managers had pushed back on this "doctored evidence" nonsense, but I'm guessing nobody had a clue as to what he was trying to claim. The best I can figure is that there was a 2020 date on one of their slide templates, which they corrected to be the actual date before they presented the evidence.

Sure, the guy was out of his element and apparently isn't familiar with Twitter, but if the tweets they had cited were more than a year old somebody other than him would have noticed. It's not like each one doesn't have a timestamp and there aren't records on the web.

As for the checkmark, yeah that was sloppy, but no one would have noticed if he didn't point it out.

There probably hasn't been a week over the past quarter century that I haven't thought about Ignatious at least once. He made that strong of an impression on me and the world is considerably less colorful, now that he's passed.

Condolences to all. He will be missed. And for the benefit of us living far away... is the 4/17 memorial correct?

While I might add different sitcoms or rank them differently, I'm surprised that no one has pointed out that George Jefferson didn't "happen upon a large sum of money". He built a successful business from the ground up which was an important part of his character and a huge part of the show.

Why should the Girl Scouts absorb the company's loss? Not only does the reporter unfairly put the onerous on the Girl Scouts, but he actually suggests that the company shouldn't have any loss, the Girl Scouts should instead.

I haven't read Utah's law, so feel free to educate me if I'm wrong, but I believe that in most states a concealed carry permit gives a person the right to conceal their weapon, it doesn't require it to be concealed. And unless there's some kind of special regulations regarding schools, which I'm interpreting the post and to mean that Utah law doesn't forbid a person from carrying a concealed weapon into a school, not that they have special permission, so there should be no rule against a school at least asking teachers if they have a permit.

As for the overall question, I've had to reluctantly accept that when my kids get to high school, there's a pretty good likelihood that there may be a school resource officer around, but I'd never send them to a lower school with a cop on campus or to any school that I'd think there's a possibility that a teacher or anyone might be armed.

I didn't religiously watch Larry's television program, but I used to listen to his radio show every night. I don't remember if he said it on the radio during one of his open phone segments or if he said it to an interviewer on another program, but Larry used to explain that he'd never read an author's book before they'd come on the show. Not preparing was part of his style. I remember he explained that it put him on equal footing with the audience, so that if the guest said something interesting, he could make sure its put into context for the audience and by having no advanced knowledge, he could better get the guest to explain what their product or project was about.

Obviously it served him well. He was one of the top radio personalities in the country (before radio got such a political tinge) and one of the first hires at CNN, which made him the most recognizable interviewer in the world.
