Good for them, now how about bringing back some more of those Enix series?

Re: Otaku Inventory: Play-Asia Year Of The Tiger Sale

Sure they will. I ordered DS games from them in the past, and a quick test with a random Wii game worked as well. Their shipping policy says: "Shipping: This item is also available for shipping to select countries outside the U.S", so I'm not sure how many countries, but I can attest that Germany is one of them.

Re: Blaster Master Overdrive Rolls Onto WiiWare This Monday

Fast, indeed.

Seems the Nintendo School Of Marketing is gaining influence. It's not getting re-released because it was a smash hit, but because it seemingly was an overlooked gem. The recently announced budget line is about the highest rated (Nintendo Channel ratings) third party games, and is meant to give these games more visibility among those who would normally stick to Nintendo games (with a red sleeve over the original box, depicting the rating it received from people who played the game), and to lower the barrier of entry with a budget price.

Is that so hard? :/

Re: Takahashi Meijin: Original Characters Have An Uphill Battle

Sad, but true. Why bother inventing new characters when Mario, Sonic, and Master Chief sell millions

If it were that simple ("there was once a time, long ago, when new characters were accepted, but now ITS TOOO LAAAAATEEE"), there would be no (f.ex.) Master Chief.

A well-known character helps a game (as does a movie-license, a series name, anything that makes people recognize something familiar), but there are enough once-popular series and characters that prove that this is not independent of the actual appeal a game has.

A new character does not hinder a game, or did people not buy, say, Assassin's Creed because they didn't know Altair? To know what people want, or to make them want what you have is what a competent marketing department is good at. It's just much more important today, as so many games compete for attention and money.

Re: PlayStation Motion Controller Delayed Until Fall

I care. DQIX has sold better and longer than any DQ before, because they understand how the market (especially for RPGs) works: Many people buy day 1, complete the game and sell it. Late comers buy those used copies cheaper, instead for full price: No / few additional sales.

SE provides downloadable content for free for a year, so more people keep their copy after completing the main quest: Fewer used copies. Close to the end of that year they offer a budget version: Less reason to buy used.

Good strategy, that.

Re: Game Arts Developing Another Downloadable Game

Sounds like please look forward to the announcement, then look forward to the countdown (which probably counts down to when the second countdown may start, after which we may open a teaser site).

Re: The Very Hungry Caterpillar’s ABC Crawling Onto WiiWare

The kids game will teach 140 basic English words like Lion and orange.
