jraq - I just made a comment and suggestion - YOU were the one who questioned my parenting of my children.

Just like you who made remarks about my parenting skills - you try to turn this around and make it seem as though I am lumping all of the parents and generalizing them?

And what is so wrong about expecting to have our children live up to a "standard" of social behavior ?

This is not "my" standard of social behavior ...... but one that is pretty much expected by most people.

The world is made up of many cultures - I do not know of one where it is "socially acceptable" to cuss and disobey the rules.

If you think that kids can not act like kids without this type of behavior ....then YOU are also part of the problem. I hope you do not have the ability to reproduce.

You giving me advice on how to raise my children is laughable......I do teach my children to be tolerant - to their peers, their elders, people of different races and religions

Your suggestion of me telling / teaching my kids to be tolerant of those who disobey the rules is absurd ! Are you kidding me???

According to your logic :
Next time someone punches you in the face ....just be tolerant.
Next time someone drives drunk and kills or hurts someone .....just be tolerant.
Next time someone steals something from you .....just be tolerant.

Your best advice should be written on toilet paper and then used for it's intended purpose.

Why do you feel so threatened by my suggestions ? or comments ?

Sometimes people like you - need to use a forum like this in order to feel better about themselves - because they feel small and unheard. I feel sorry for you.

The bigger part of the penalties is to make their parents aware of their children's behavior and then tie it to their wallets and purses. It is a matter to help make the parent ware of their children's actions and make their parent not use the park as thier personal childcare facilty.

jraq - obviously your comments prove my point exactly.

The park is public land for the enjoyment of all of the people of Morgan Hill. Just like many public places in our society there are always rules - and in this case this is no different.

For your information:
My 2 sons are (ages 10-12 are excellent skateboarders and are good enough to have earned clothing sponsorships from Ezekiel and Addict + skateboard sponsorship from Element) the concern is not them hearing the language but my 5 yr old son and 4 yr old daughter who watch their older brothers skate at the park.

Are you suggesting that just because a few "linguistically" challenged (Have your Mommy look up that word for you) people ,like yourself ,who can't control their behavior and find it necessary to cuss for not being able to stay on their board.

question : do you use this type of language in the classroom (in your case pre-school) ?
or in front of your Mommy or Daddy ?
or in church ?
or in the library ?(I am assuming you can look at the neat pictures in some of the books)
or in the hospital ?

why just because you are on your board or in a skate park do you feel the need to cuss ?

Or is it because you want to show off to your boyfriends and girlfriends how tough of a person you are ? or how cool you are?

Your sense of reasoning or response clearly shows a serious lack of intelligence.

Unlike your parents (or test tubes in your case) My wife and I have taught my children to be responsible and respectful and they DO excell in both the classroom on their skateboards as well as soccer (they both play on the Elite squads in the Santa Clara based soccer league) they have the ability to control their emotions without having to blurt out obscene language to express their feelings.

You seem to think my feelings get hurt easily - but yet it was YOU who felt threaten by my opinions and concerns.
Why do you think that this is so ?
Perhaps some therapy would go along way to address your "short-comings" or feelings of inadequacy.

I never stated I had the only answer - but I have been to many skateparks around the Westcoast and Southwest USA (with my 2 boys in competition) and have seen skate parks that are run well and in a manner much like I suggest to make the place enjoyable for as many people as possible.

Are you saying that you are incapable of controlling your language while skating ? Or is it because you do not want to do so ? (Again therapy would help for this case as well)

The skatepark is here and now we have another issue to deal with.

Planning around this recreational facility is poor AT BEST and here we are...

First of all this skate park is a priviledge for its users (kid and adults) it is not their right to use the park - and thus they should be required to adhere to ALL of the rules and regulation when using the facility.

The helmet rule should be ABSOLUTELY mandatory !! No exceptions...

There should also be a a "code of conduct" set of rules - especially with respect to the useage of profanity. I took my children there to use the park and there were so many "F" words flying out of kids mouths that after 20 minutes I took my children home.

This park is a public facility and there should be rules to make it a place where we all can use the park and bring our children there without having to address these issues. Gilbert, AZ has a skate park and they have parents enoforce the rules (helmets and language) with little issues. Cussing is not allowed and if someone does not obey the rules - they are escorted off the property by either city park rangers or police.

Here is my proposal -

#1 - Charge a yearly fee for children under the age of 18 and adults to help cover some of the cost to run and maintain the park.

#2 - Develop a video on the safety requirements, code of conduct

#3 - Make it mandatory for all children under the age of 18 and their parents to watch this video and sign a waiver / contract to obey all of the rules and the consequences of not folloing the rules.

#4 - Provide an identification badge that is REQUIRED for each person to wear (clip on a shirt of pant) while using the facility (and must be shown upon checkin)

#5 - 1st offense : If someone is in violation of any of the rules and safety of the park - then require them to retake the video training - at a cost of 1/2 the cost of the yearly fee + suspend priviledges for 1 month. And then reassign them a different colored ID badge (to track them if they are 1st time or 2nd time offenders) Parents must also attend this video again with all children under the age of 18 and sign another waiver / contract.

#6 - 2nd offense - and immediate 6 month suspension of park priviledges. Increase renewal fees by 2X and again have them rewatch the video (with parents again for all children under the age of 18) - issue a different colored badge to signify that they are 2nd offense violators.

#7 - 3rd offense revoke park priviledges for 1 full year - increase the park fees by 3X

Let's state this for what it is : not wearing a helmet is NOT an expression of freedom when you are using facilities that are provided to you by either the city or another person.

The questions that need to be asked are :

Where are the parents of these kids who blantantly diregard the rules and think they are exempt from following the rules of the property?

The park is a beautiful facility that should be a place where all children and adults who use the park should feel priviledge to have such a facility that they have access to.

It is sad to see the "adults" who use this park also refuse to use helmets, you would think that they would consider it as an example for the younger kids.

The park is a priviledge that has been provided by our community for the enjoyment and use of it's citizen's - it is not a right. Like other rules that must be obeyed at other parks (camping, barbeque, fishing etc...) this is no different.

My suggestion is this:
#1 - First of all there should be a video created for the safety and code of conduct for using this park.

#2 - secondly - All users of the skatepark should be required to watch the entire video - children under 18yrs old should be accompanied by their parents or legal guardian. And receive a badge that they have to wear at all times in the park. (skatepark license or Identification sticker)

#3 - After viewing the video they should be required to sign a contract stating that they will obey all rules regarding the useage of the park.

#4 - If they violate the code of conduct "First offense" they lose their sticker (park license) for 1 month and must rewatch the video and sign another contract with notification of more significant penalties for failing to comply. (they will recieve a different colored skate park sticker - identifying them as someone who has had 1 offense)

#5 - if they violate a 2nd time - confiscate their skateboard - and fine the parents - or individual (if they are adults) for the violation before returning the skateboard - and impose a 6 month loss of park priviledge.

#6 - if they violate a 3rd time - revoke their priviledges permanently.

This is not an issue of personal freedom.....it is an issue of safety practices on public property (publically used property) if these folks do not want to comply ....then they have no rights to use the park.

I appreciate the kind words - I just wanted to give you my exerience using an electric powered vehicle. I tired very hard to be objective and provide as much information as possible and some "fuel" for thought to those considering purchasing these types of vehicles. It does sound as though you have a direct connection to this business and thus have a vested interest.

One area I did not touch upon in my first post on this subject is the consideration of SAFETY.

Safety is a MAJOR part of the decision process and I should have provided some of my thoughts and experiences with this area as it is a matter of life and death.

My first car had issues with vehicle weight (balance) - let me explain - the first car I had had it battery pack in the rear of the vehicle and the weight distribution was about 35-40% (front) to 65%-70% (Rear) which greatly impacted the vehicle stability - especially during aggressive braking in wet of even dry conditions. The weight was also slightly "off-center" towards the driver side especially if there was no passenger in the vehicle with me. So my advice is to ask the car dealer about the weight distribution (front to rear) and if the weight is "centered" (left to right) especially if the vehicle has 1 -2 people in it. Learn about the braking system as well - I strongly urge you to aggressively test the braking of the vehicle as part of the test drive process (straight line - left and right swerve braking)

Also - please consider the fact that most accidents occur near the home or during running "routine" chores around town. These cars will not fare very well vs. normal gas vehicles even at speed of less than 15mph. I was rear ended at a stop light by a small Volkswagen who hit me at about 10mph and the result was I ended up getting my 3rd electric vehicle (which I drove a total of 300 miles in 9 months) as well as an injured shoulder and sprained wrist and twisted knee.

Here is my personal thoughts about and warnings about those considering purchasing one of these smaller electric cars: I would not recommend people with families to (mothers and fathers with children) purchase one of these cars - because the risk of injury or death is too great. I totally understand the idea of being more conscience about our environment and strongly support conservation and the efforts to reduce emmisions - but not at the cost of placing oneself at risk - leaving behind children, spouses, family and friends.

You can drive one of these cars as defensively as possible - but you can not control the other driver's actions (as evidenced by someone running into me at a stop light) I was lucky and I know if I had been hit on the side of the vehicle I probably would not be here today. I am trying to locate the pictures of my accident - if I do locate them I think you would be shocked to see the amount of damage my vehicle sustained in this accident (If I find them I will ask the MH Times if they would post them on thier website)

I hope that my thoughts and experiences shed some light and provokes those who are considering this alternative sit back and consider all of the factors that should be considered before purchasing a vehicle like this.

Bottom line is this : Know what you are purchasing and for what purpose you are purchasing it for. Understand the risks and weigh the benefits.

Before everyone jumps all over me on what I am going to post - please consider the following: I have had access to 3 different models of electric vehicles during my extended stays in Europe while on working assignments. My desire to be "eco-friendly" was my main motive so I tried 3 different battery technologies in my attempt to find a suitable solution.

My point to those considering purchasing an electric car is to really think about ALL of the positive AND negatives - do not rely on the dealers to provide you with all of the information - after all - their objective is to sell the vehicle.

The costs of operating an electric vehicle are grossly over - exaggerated - the costs are not 2 cents a mile but more like 5-7 cents a mile (at a minimum) - and can be much higher when you factor in the costs to replace batteries every 3 yrs or so (at a cost of $2000 - $5000 depending on the number of batteries or types of batteries in your vehicle)

Let's consider the following: (remember the cars are used pretty much for city driving exclusively)
1) Average 25 miles a day 6 days a week = 150 miles a week average
2) 52 weeks per year x 150 miles = 7800 miles a year (let's assume 5 cents a mile ave) = $390 costs
3) Let's say the batteries last 3 yrs and have to be replaced at a cost of $2000 (best case scenario) = that adds an nearly an additional 12 cents per mile on top of the 5 cents per mile for a total of about 17 cents per mile

Now consider the following :
1) heater and air conditioning are run by the battery which impacts the total distance of the vehicle as well (if your vehicle is equipped with these options) I hope they are especially during cold or hot days.
2) All other functions such as lights, windshield wipers, radio etc.... are also power draining sources - so be sure to ask what are the impacts (range of the vehicle) if all of these types of options will be running.

3) AC batteries are better than DC batteries - so check into that as well - but there are also higher costs involved (when considering this technologies AC batteries vs. DC batteries : Better does mean more expensive)

4) Advantages of electric cars are they do not idle at stop lights - so you can conserve energy by shutting down systems during stops - and of course open windows.

My advise to those considering purchasing an electric car is to REALLY do your homework. Go online and research all of the "Pros" and "Cons" - and be aware of who is writing the reviews or advice.

As much as I hate to admit it - comfort and reliability and time were factors in my overall useage of these vehicles (provided to me by my company) I think if I were to actually purchase the vehicles - I would have probably stopped after the first vehicle. My commute into town was about 6 miles (12 miles round trip) it took nearly 25 minutes 1 way (with traffic, lights, stop signs etc.) I drove the vehicle twice when it rained and then decided to really never drive it during windy or rainy weather (I used a gas vehicle instead)

I found that the initial draw to the car wore off over time when all of the factors I outlined above (there are more) so I ended up using the vehicle about 75 miles a week or less (Since my company purchased these vehicles for me I used them as much as I could to commute to work everyday.)

I think that in general if you plan to use the vehicle for "daily chores' and have a clear understanding of how you are REALLY going to use the vehicle then it is a good option for you. If you think it will REPLACE your current vehicle - then seriously think again - because I guarantee you will be disappointed.

I personally think that scooters are better options - (of course not in rain or inclimate conditions) - but they lack storage space (even though you can add options to increase your carrying capacity) but that is a whole different discussion. (a matter of preference)

Just consider all of the variables of owning an electric vehicle before parting with your hard earned money.

I am not an advocate of Gay right's - but am a supporter of people's rights to "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness"

What I don't understand is why the hasn't been a movement to unite and form a religion that supports same sex marriages and form it much like alot of "Western religions" have (i.e. Mormon's Jehovah Witnesses etc..,) and get it protected under the constitution as their right of "Freedom of religion" then pursue to obtain the same rights as a "man + woman" marriage.

I do not understand why so many "narrow-minded" people view same sex marriage as something that "taints" or remotely degrades or lessens their marriage is just plain crazy. These same people who use the Bible as the basis for their opposition I am sure - do not represent the Bible in the way it was intended for in the first place. What about practicing alittle tolerance ?

The same constitution that protects the religious zealots to practice their rights to chose their religion - should also be use in a manner to protect people seeking the right to be married.

This issue should not be about "limiting people's rights" it should be about providing equal rights.....

If you have been reading over the course of the past 2-3 months specifically with respect to Measure "A" you would know that I have been pretty vocal about this "re-vote" (and for the record I did vote for it on the 1st ballot) I did have several lengthy "point-counter points with another resident of who reads this and we did so in a very well debated but respectful manner.

Here is what I am opposed to (which I have communicated several times using this forum) - since you prefer to make a "pointed" comment towards me without knowing the full story.

I am opposed to the fact that people in the first ballot voted this measure down......and because the folks who originally should have positioned this ballot correctly in the first place (since it was SO important to them) and taken the time to communicate the ballot in full did not like the outcome they have access to funds to (which the amount is well documented) to correct their original mistake in the first place. These funds do not "magically" appear nor are these funds "endless".

My point is if the measure was SO VERY important to the organization that placed it on the ballot in the first place - they have a moral obligation to use the funds in a responsible manner.

Since they did not - I feel that they shold have to wait at least 2 yrs - so that the people who turned out to vote against this measure - have their voice heard and upheld for some period of time. These people took the time and voted - and for what ?? If any measure can repeatedly be changed AND funded because they did not like the outcome - what message does that send to the voters?

They may have used funds that could have been used for another measure that may have higher significance or impact than this one - since you correctly point out that these units will be built anyway....regardless of this measure. When you have to reconfigure the downtown area to accomodate for these housing units and additional parking the end effect will be alot of changes to the downtown business units as well (would it not?)

"Big box" stores or "mom and pop" stores I like them both - construction will cause people to stop patronizing businesses during times of construction.

Please understand - I actively participate in our community - I make a point to patronize our local businesses on AT LEAST a weekly basis (but I am more fortunate than most and can afford to do so) I was born in this town back in the early 1960's and went to EVERY single school in the town - I worked my way through college at the original Nob Hill, Sprouse Ritz (You probably don't know what I am talking about) - The 21 - Mile House Fruit stand on the south side of Morgan Hill (about where the Burger king is now) and even the corner drug store called "Bertelli's Drug". I have alot of friends who own local businesses - But some of my opinions may not make them happy - so I chose to use this name.

I am glad you "own your words" you should be......But knowing the full story before insinuating that I "hide" and have not voiced my opinion previously - when in fact - I have in this forum as "MHBorn" and in person at our local city counsel meetings using my "real face' and unfortunately having to own it.....(ha ha !) - I think you should be more proud to "know what you are talking about" - because taking ownership of your words when you do not have the facts - is like trying to drink dirt.

500 more housing units in downtown to "revitalize" the downtown area - where is the parking for these 500 homes and the people living in them ? (1 -2 cars per housing unit = potentially 1000 cars)

Potecting the Greenbelt of our city was one of the cries we constantly heard - what about the "Heart" of the town?

This plan to revitalize the downtown area will have to be a MASSIVE reconstruction and layout of the downtown area - to accomodate for the parking and the traffic and pedestrian traffic. What confidence do you have that our city planners and developers can pull this off ? (I have seen very little in what they have done over the course of the last 6 yrs to make me feel better)

Here is my prediction:
1) Cost of the project will exceed the budgeted amount by 30% - 40%
2) Quality of the store / shops in the downtown area - with the exception of the restaurants - will not be improve the overall shopping experience of the downtown area.
3) Cost to operate a business in the downtown area will increase (per square ft) by a minimum of 15% once project is completed.
4) several businesses over the course of the downtown building project will close it doors due to the impact on shopping due to construction
5) 500 more potential customers who live in downtown Morgan Hill will commute to San Jose to work and buy products from our neighboring cities.

Mr. James Neet - you taught many kids here in Morgan Hill to play baseball (some of these kids were mine , relatives of mine and neighbors) but most importantly you taught them about giving (though your actions) you taught them discipline and character using a sport to convey teach these important lessons in a young persons' life. You have used sport the way it should be use and introduced into children's lives.

I hope you give the chance for some of these children to tell you how much you mean to them - if so - I am sure there are 2 boys in my house who would be in my car faster than they could run to 1st base.

I think there should be around a 3 year (don't take me literally) period between votes on the same measures or issues - otherwise I think that if meaures are challenged again and again and again year after year (or less) eventually they will win not because of the merit of the measure but because of attrition. I am afraid this will drive voters away from the polls and create empathy.

It's like going to a store with your child and they ask for a toy and you say "no" - then 5 seconds later they ask again and again and again until eventually you either scold them or you give up and buy them the toy. I consider myself a pretty firm father - but even I must admit this has happened to me a few times. (Not a perfect analogy - but one I hope you get the gist of.)

I think also having some timeline like this will tend to make those putting together their issues/measures consider more strongly if their measure has enough public support and whether or not they have done their "due deligence" in placing their best foot forward - if not then wait 1 more year and then put your best foot forward and don't waste or take these funds for granted.

One of my biggest issues with any organization is quite simply "WASTE". I spent the last 8 years of my career working on this within major corporations, local and overseas governments as well as public service organizations.

I know my thoughts on our schools is a different issue..... but...I would like to see the same level of engergy that folks put into this measure or others and direct them towards our current schools systems.

#1 Again - my point is not against the measure itself - I thought I made this quite clear. It is about how during the first ballot they DTA made some assumptions and because of this - they feel they lost the vote. Who's fault is that ?

Secondly - Is it not true that the RDA (Redevelopment Funds) where this money is coming from - could also be used to fund other local programs - like funding a rec center, Sr. citizen's center or any other local program ?

Thirdly - I did acknoweldge that "One" of the criteria of being on the DTA was being a downtown business owner - Not soley.

Mishandling funds when you are the organization supporting the measure - by mishandling I mean making mistakes / miscalculations during the campaign process is their fault. Resulting in a loss (albeit narrowly - but nonetheless a loss.

I have been very honest about my position -

The measure was put on the ballot - It lost because the voters of Morgan Hill voted it down. 1,2,3 ...10 votes it doesn't matter - IT LOST.

Again - before you get you get all fired up - sure they have the right to place it back on the ballot - but before they use MORE RDA funds - funds that YOU acknowledge come from the "Populace" - the SAME "Populace" that voted down the measure in the first place.

Don't you think there should be some reasonable amount of time to let the original outcome of the vote stand ?

Regardless, of my "Lack"" of facts as you state - fundamentally - on some level don't you agree?

Lastly - I did vote for this measure - as I stated in my previous posting - I personally support local business quite frequently - opting to shop locally vs. taking my money to San Jose to purchase goods - have have purchase 5 vehicles over the last 8 yrs (wife and children - just in case you think I am bragging) from local auto dealers even though I opposed the business breaks the city provided them.

I voted for the measure because "fundamentally" I would like to see the downtown area become relevant and the heart of our community - although I honestly have little faith in how the DTA plans for "revitalization" will work - or my concerns over how this measure will more than likely spell the end of business for many local businesses. But still I voted because I felt it was best. But I do respect the outcome even though it opposed my viewpoint.

I personally would prefer to see our schools be the target of "revitalization" - and build a community around that (like Cupertino has) by that I mean - if you have a reputation for "great schools" and education for our young - the people will come and so will the money, businesses will thrive.

I sense that my posts hit a nerve - and I probably have a good sense of why. I apologize for my lack of "facts" - but I still feel that I am fundamentally correct on my reasons.

MHRAISED - The "special priviledges" I was referring to is the simple fact - that the Morgan Hill Downtown Association Board - is the main proponent of backing measure "A" isn't it ??

Well some of these members of the board (surpise, surprise) are downtown local business owners aren't they ??

In FACT one of the criteria that is required to be on the board is to be a downtown business owner.

So these business owners have a "Nest fund" supplied to them by the RDA to use literally at their will paid for by whom ? (Taxpayers) -

Free money is an advantage isn't it ?

Doesn't that kinda give them an "advantage" (since you don't like the word priviledge)

Seems abit TOO self-serving doesn't it ??

All I am doing is trying to provide a balance to this by seeing if we can raise interest in opposition to uphold our original vote - be a part of the "Democratic system" - But I am not using any tax-payers funds to do so.

Isn't this being "active in my community' and being a contributor to finding a solution?

In this case my solution is not to figure out "How to revitalize the downtown area" but instead hold those accountable for their lack of planning and execution on measure "A" in the first place.

I understand where the money comes from to place this measure back on the ballot - But does that mean the money is "Free" ??

It does come from somewhere.... doesn't it???? That same mentality on spend, spend, spend is what aided in creating the budget issues that our local and federal government faces (of course not soley). Just because money is "magically there..." does not mean it has to be spent.

I don't have an issue with putting the measure back on - but at least have some sort of time lag between to allow the original vote to stand - if the people who placed that measure on the ballot in the first place did not invest the time to help insure that it would pass - and they even admit they did not - then "who is the arrogant one" ?? who is to blame ?? Just because the "Free-Funds" are there and by putting the measure on this ballot will save money - why didn't they do it right the first time and REALLY save money - WHERE IS THE ACCOUNTABILITY ?

Is the an infinite amount of "free-funds" ?

Could these funds be taking away an opportunity to place another measure before the public for a vote ? Do we have to use the money just because it is there ??????????

I am not trying to infuriate anyone....I just want accountability

I have voiced my concerns and do support my community in many charitable ways - a better use of my time and money.

I posted this response to a letter that Brad jones wrote to the MHT editor last week.

The anger you are suggesting is not entirely focused at the MH counsel - it is based upon people like you who have decided to challenge the vote of those who voted on this measure and now - because you and the counsel "believe" that the voters did not understand the vote - and want to base this as the reason to challenge something that you want - because YOU feel as though the folks voting are not educated enough - reeks of a child who is throwing a tantrum to get their way - at the cost of over $100k dollars to the people of Morgan Hill.

What is the purpose of having a vote in the first place ? Why do you think it is appropriate to try to overturn the original vote - just purely based upon your "beliefs' about the mis-interpetation by the voters.

How about this ? Maybe you are right and that the voters did mis-interpet the measure - and THATS the reason the vote was so close in the first place!!!

Maybe more people wanted to vote against it but got confused about the way it was communicated to them in the first place ?? Have you thought about that ??

Arrogance in trying to think you have the right to try to "interpet" the mentality of the voting public is absolutey flat-out wrong. What is next ? Do you want to place measures restricting peoples right to vote based upon their IQ ?

You are right about local businesses do support local economies - but in the case of the voter - you are telling them that they wasted their time voting on this measure - so why vote in the first place?

If businesses in the downtown area were better suited for the population of Morgan Hill this would be a "NON ISSUE" !!! But the simple fact of the mtter is they are not suited for the general public.

What proof do we have that our city planners / city developers will be able to execute on this project as well?

All of the development for the last 25 years have been done on the outer edges of the town......I am sorry about the downtown businesses - but those folks make up a VERY small % of the total population of Morgan Hill - and just because they are local business people does not guarantee them any special priviledges to help them succeed. (And 1 thing I want you to be aware of - is that I do support / frequent our local businesses quite frequently - because I am lucky enough to be able to afford to - but I too am a minority from that aspect.)

I am so frustrated by the lack of respect these folks are displaying to the voting public - I suggest that we hold those who support this ballot accountable - How can they approve the spending of over $130k in the current state of this economic crisis ?

I will make it a mission - to publicize each of the counsel members who support this measure and help remove them from office during the next election. Win or lose on this - I will hold them accountable. I am very concerned about the plans and I am speaking as a person with a backround in developing and running a major "Fortune 100" business and assisting in the urban development of countires in which we did business in.

If I start a campaign against this measure .....would the people of Morgan Hill join me ?

I was born and raised in this town - I have no desire to hold public office - but I believe that those who do should respect the voters and the public for whom they serve and there are unquestionably some on the counsel who do not understand who or what they represent.

I love this town....I hope those who read this would join me. Send me your contact info and I will coordinate a plan of action.

Wow lots of racial tension on this article.

Kids committing crimes ... do you really think this is an economic issue ?

Wanting money by stealing it .... probably is more of a character issue and intelligence issue.

A father stealing in order to fed his children may have some legit economic implications - but even so most people would not commit a federal crime and rob a bank to do so.

I would guess that this is not the first crime any of these kids have committed in their young lives - which is really the scary issue here.

blueblazer68 - true identity theft will still occur - but if you were to take a look at the overall number of people who are committing these crimes they would lack the sophistication to pull off thefts with measures that I am advocating. They goal is obviously is to eliminate this type of crime - but realistically that will never happen - so our best bet is to reduce the overall amount of these (and other so-called "victimless crimes") and then increase the severity of the penalties for committing these crimes significantly.
