However, many people simply don't have a network that yields access to the incredibly small universe of VC. It's why women and people of color struggle to get funding, not to mention those who grew up in poverty and weren't fortunate enough to attend the excellent schools that you and I did. A friend often says that the world is like creme brûlée - if you're on the top, your world is small and interconnected.
