She's not as flashy as some of the others, but she has her own just as appealing characteristics. Although she doesn't appear constantly in the comic, I think she's at least most people's second favorite. The only one who wants to be normal in a comic of unusual people.

Where she'd go on vacation isn't obvious to me, but she'd certainly want to go somewhere quiet. Likely somewhere with no cell phone service. This does seem like a likely spot. Warm, peaceful. Somewhere her legs wouldn't need to be uncovered if she didn't want them to be.

Your picture is great. It's very charming, almost like a storybook. Very colorful and detailed. I can tell you put a lot of time into it.

Re: Comicadia - Multi Artist eXchange

I believe this round of the exchange Reed Hawker of Culture Shock drew the picture for you, and I drew a picture for Julie Devin of Monster Soup. Just like with the ComicFury exchanges, it's not directly reciprocal. By design, we both drew pictures for, and received pictures from different people. Unless only two people entered on a particular month I guess, then they'd have to get each-other.

It's kind of like the board game Clue, when you find out who you are drawing for, you know they aren't the person who will be drawing a picture for you.

Re: Comicadia - Multi Artist eXchange

Hey, I recognize you from ComicFury! You do the Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde comic, don't you? I agree Pulse is a comic with lighthearted adventures, and not dark mortally complicated choices.

Your picture is very dynamic, and it looks like a fight is about to happen. Thanks, I like it.

Re: [Update: Winner] Giveaway: Win an NVIDIA SHIELD multiplayer bundle - one SHIELD and four gamepads

I might use it as a Plex server, but probably to play games.

Re: Lilbits 312: Steam Machines would be faster as Windows Machines

I wonder if certain games are native ports, and others are not. Ever since the Mac switch to Intel, some Mac games are not native. They are just the Windows version of the game in a Wine wrapper (I think they are called Cider wrappers actually).

On low-end games it might be unnoticed, but on higher-end games that certainly would have a big negative impact on performance. Maybe the same thing is being done here in some cases.

Re: Asus Zenfone 2 giveaway

I'd use it to replace my Samsung Galaxy Light.

Re: Rikomagic MK80 TV box giveaway

This sounds like a fun experiment.

Re: HP introduces 10 inch Pavilion x2 Windows tablet

Isn't this the one that was originally said to come with a Wacom pen? Oh, looking back I guess that was the "HP Pro x2" and it's still never been released.

Re: Pulse 148 "Ahead" : Updates Thursdays

Testing to see if this works...

Re: Nextway F9X tablet giveaway

I'd sure like a tablet, even a cheap one.

Re: Pulse : Test

testing...

Re: Oopsie-Doodle: Lady Def

For just random ideas that you could do once or every once in a while: "Random facts aboout Beryl" strips (what is she good at? Maybe she was in the Olympics in some event? Was she a race car driver? Her measurements? Things she doesn't like? Things she wants to accomplish?)? Or strips that place Beryl or similar looking relatives in a historical event? Or strips that are sort of like candid pictures with Beryl. Or "Where's Beryl?" Where's Waldo-type pictures? Or strips showing Beryl at a previous point in her life? Pages from her diary?

Not that I'm against them, I'd try to limit the boob jokes.

The previous times you've started over, I don't think anyone reading could know enough about what you have planned to judge if it was a good or bad thing. I think the previous version clearly wasn't what you said you wanted (a simple gag comic), but it wasn't far enough along for most of us to have had a sense of what it would have become.

I've never -exactly- done a gag comic so far, but I think what I'd do is try to figure out a concept I liked, and that I though I could continue for a long time. I'd plan that the first few strips would require sort of an example of the kinds of things in the series, but that in general I'd force myself to mostly things that could be explained in only one page... or one week of updates (however often the comic would update).

I think the thing is that you need to figure out what you want to do. I feel like you keep starting something and then realizing that it wasn't what you wanted.

Maybe you should make a list of things you want to avoid in the comic and then review that list when doing each new page.

Re: Carsblog: But Bluto said the tough get going

The problem with a person killing themself is that it never solves any problems. In eight years I've never had any luck with getting links either. I think only three comics link to me (Blonde Marvel, Supermegatopia, and you). My site has been mentioned in news posts over the years at both Aikida and Dueling Analogs (although I'm not in their link pages), and I've gotten a giant increase in hits for a day or two, but most of those don't seem to become readers.

I guess the trick is to just be popular, and people will link to you hoping that you'll link back to them.

I plan to mention your site in my news post in about 24 hours, but our traffic levels are about the same, so I'm not sure that it'll make a big difference.

Re: CarsBlog: Tossing the DISQUS Thu, 14 Aug 2008

It is very impressive. I tested it by adding it to one of my comics (Adept). It has great features, and looks great (even on a dark-colored website). It can even tell the difference between comic gallery pages so that each page would have comments only related to that page.

I'm not sure if it's compatible with my setup though.

One problem is that I have comic gallery set so that the default page is the newest page. I then use the comic directory index as the address for that specific comic on the site. That way certain links will always point to the newest page. Although with this, the index page is considered it's own page, and any comments listed on it will always be on that page (and won't follow the page when it isn't the newest page).

It's not a huge deal though, all I have to do to fix that is change those few links to link to a certain page like adding "?p=5" to the end of the address.

The other issue is if I add or remove pages the comments won't continue to be on the correct page. I know that I need to add a title page for the last Adept chapter. Maybe I could just add a dummy page I guess.

Maybe I should just go for it and see what happens (and read the TOS first to make sure I can use it on my site).
