Proper flagship? The Lumia 930 is very comparable to the iPhone 6 and GS5, especially when you use the phone and compare to those two. Just look at the specs and performance of each.

The main reason is so obvious... You can't get the apps that people want and those that are available usually suck compared to the ones on Android and iOS. Anybody who works in retail in this industry can tell you that.

Lack of functionality compared to iOS and Android also plays a role as does UI design, but the overwhelming factor why people defect to the other two is because of apps. If all of your friends have Snapchat and you're missing out on all the fun, why would you stick around with WP? It's one of the main reasons I went back to Android. That and the ESPN app is worlds better, and what the OS has allowed developers to tap into to create apps for.

I really wanted to buy this laptop over the HP Envy 15t Touch but I read too many reviews 6 months ago that made me very worried about it. They all said the same thing; the Intel AC-7260 card had tons of connectivity issues, whether it was trouble connecting to networks or losing connections by simply moving out of the room where the router was located.

Anybody here have this and experience the same thing?

Very cool. Still can't compete with the Apple's AirPlay via Apple TV. The way that enables your TV to be an "extension" of the device is awesome.

I don't think we'll ever get it. My 1020 has been nothing but slow since I updated to 8.1. The tiles on the homescreen constantly have to refresh.

I guess I'm the only person aside from the team at Motorola that thinks about how to make peoples lives easier. Maybe they finally built the functionality into the OS, but the thing I wanted to see most was a way to create automated "tasks" within a "SmartActions" app.

Being able to accomplish things like turning on Bluetooth because my phone knows where I am, or turning on WiFi because it knows that at 5:30 PM I'm always walking through the door of my place. Even starting up my music app when I get in my car and Bluetooth connects to my car stereo. All customizable and completely controlled by you.

SmartActions was one of the most brilliant apps ever thought up and its functionality is something I've been dying to see on WP.

I didn't see this in the video, or read about it anywhere, but Actionable notifications is another thing I wanted to see. Something like what Apple did in iOS 8 and being able to say, delete an email without even leaving the notifications screen.

Nicely done artwork but no thank you. Scrollable shortcuts in the notifications panel is the only thing worth having here.

A swipe UP notifications panel would be disastrous for usability on WP. You'd be hitting any one of the three bottom keys trying to do that. This isn't Apple where they only have a single physical button that wouldn't get in the way.

The tabs on the start screen are also unnecessary. If you want to access Files, just open the app up. Search would be a great thing to have but not front and center. Put the search at the top of the app list where it would make sense. Again, someone was definitely thinking about Apple while doing this.

The weather is cool, but isn't that the point of having a live tile?

I think its time to send my designs in...

The Music app is absolutely awful. As someone who uses the app every day for 2 hours on average, I have been contemplating reverting back to WP8 on my 1020 just so I can have the old app back, which by the way, worked great. It wasn't perfect, but it worked great.

WP is not "free". There are still plenty of things that Microsoft hasn't released API's for, or won't let you do. It's better than what it used to be but in no way is it as open as Android, let alone iOS.

Its frustrating that it has come to this. We should be able to walk into a dealership and get the car we want, and our smartphone will work with it no problem, regardless of OS. That could be accomplished through an open source system or we could have a choice based on our current phone. Now, its looking like some will be choosing a car based on their smartphone...

Folders should be something in the app menu, and at the very top of it. That's where I have the most use for it at least.

I had issues with using Box and the dev had to fix an API from Box that he didn't update. The process went through and my screenshots showed up many days later, but it's been 3 weeks and I've taken more screenshots and they still haven't synced yet. The developer blames Microsoft for his app not being able to work the way it should (instantaneous syncing).

Downloaded the Box.com version of this app and after multiple emails to the developer I finally got it working but it's an experience FAR from how it should be. An average user would get fed up with this and request a refund. I STILL can't tell if it's continuing to keep my screenshots in sync because the upload count hasn't changed since my initial upload batch went 3 weeks ago and I know I've taken more screenshots this week alone.

Oh, and the other worst part is that for some reason this isn't an immediate upload. No, for some reason it takes "several days" for your photos to show up in your cloud storage. Seriously, and the developer blames Microsoft for the way this works.

Rafe, did you test this app prior to writing this article?

Kill the battery on your 520. I mean kill it until it can't start anymore. Give it some charge after you know its truly dead, and soft reset it a few times. That's how I got my 920 back to life. It'd be great if MSFT would fix that seeing how its a HUGE problem.
