In my diocese you don't have to be Catholic to teach at a Catholic school. Regardless of affiliation all employees of a private organization should still have fair and equal access to health care. By obstructing ones abilities to get birth control you are removing access to fair and equal health care.

Re: The whistles go whoo whoo!

It's the same with these kids. They're wearing what's in style. When I see pictures of my peers as kids, anyone wearing glasses has the same large, rounded plastic frames. I mean, while in style, they were a horrendous choice for cute, little-nosed faces. I bet that Leta and my 10 year old will both look back on those rectangular plastic frames and wonder what we were thinking.

Re: The Friendly Loom: A Chance for Collaborative Art

When using the smaller pieces of yarn, are they tying them to the loom at each end?

Re: Do Vegetarians And Vegans Think They Are Better Than Everyone Else?

Also, vegans don't get more options beyond a salad at functions.... butter in cooked veggies, beef or chicken broth in the soup (even veggie soup), egg and dairy in the bread...even the dressings available might not be vegan.

Re: Do Vegetarians And Vegans Think They Are Better Than Everyone Else?

Knowing better is not the same thing as being better than other people. Just found your blog and will add it to my regular reading list. My journey to vegetarian living began with discovering my youngest daughter's allergy to dairy and egg. Over the last 4 years I have rethought my and my family's diet and way of life and continue to learn all I can about healthful living. As for this post, I wanted to give my input as an art educator. The hands-on materials such as playdough are great for little ones. Don't get too hung up on creating a craft item step-by-step with your son. His learning stage is that of exploration, as I'm sure you're aware, and when it comes to art he only needs to be given the materials to explore: pencils, crayons, paints, playdough/clay. I recommend a large blank paper pad and avoid coloring books. Two year olds are in the prewriting stage and every little mark he makes on paper is practice for writing letters in another year or so. If you're looking for a great book, get Young at Art by Susan Striker. In another year he'll be ready for scissors and glue and can make all sorts of creative things without instructions. Also, avoid drawing for him as this can frustrate little children who don't understand why they can't draw what mommy can. Praise his efforts by pointing out different colors, shapes and lines he draws and avoid asking "what is it?" or saying "it's beautiful!" which, though you'd think it's a great response, sends the message that there's no more need to draw.

Re: I’m back!

Yay! But what would the death total have been if NO one had gotten the vaccine. Could it have been more than the deaths from the syndrome? We can't know. It's a sad thing, risking that side-effect to supposedly save more. With two young children I've been thinking about the flu a lot recently. Every time I take them to the park, the library, with my oldest back to school this week. Hubby said he read there will not be thimerasol in the flu vaccines this year. To me that shows how concerned disease control is with getting people to get vaccinated this year. The whole family had the flu in March 08 and we were saved by Tamiflu. I couldn't imagine not having Tamiflu that week. It could have been much, much worse. I wonder if there would be an antiviral medication for the swine flu.

Re: 2/3rds of UK Nurses Will Not Take Swine Flu Vaccine !!

When she said the number of people who died in '76 from the paralyzing syndrome was more than the number of people who died from the swine flu that year, I thought, what would the death toll from swine flu have been if NO one had gotten the vaccine? Maybe much more than the number of deaths from the syndrome? We can't know. I know they are predicting a lot of people will die from the flu this year. With two little children I've been thinking about this a lot. I think about it every time I take them to the park, the library, now that my oldest is back in school. Apparently there isn't thimerasol in the flu vaccines being made this year (not sure on that one, but hubby said he read that today) and that shows how concerned the gov. is about getting people to have the vaccine for regular and swine flu.

Re: Need your input!

I enjoy the recipies, especially with links on where to buy stuff not normally found in a grocery store (there is no whole foods near me).
