I believe the power to tax can be the power to destroy. However, my concern in this area is not centered around the taxes that Congress imposes. Those taxes are relatively transparent, if one is interested in knowing. Where I agree is in the area of fines and fees that are imposed, disproportionately on the poor, by local and state governments. These "taxes" are not at all transparent and put the poor in the position of being jailed if they cannot be paid.
So, we agree somewhat, but your concerns seemed to be directed at the top of government. My concerns are directed at the bottom. I mistrust local governments MUCH more than the federal government because I believe, and have seen, abuses of power by local and state governments (school districts even) that go completely unnoticed.
As for the war machine, this has been an area of disappointment with the President. However, I believe we will move more in the right direction with the next administration.

Congress, who holds the power to impose and collect taxes on behalf of the people, consented to Obamacare.

Congress has consented to many things I don't personally agree with such as the Iraq War. However, I'm not confused about their power to do so. It is, indeed, written in the Constitution.

I agree. And this morning on Arizona talk radio, the DJ's took the air ways
to defend themselves while callers dialed in to call the Sheriff an "idiot",
a "baffoon" and other names that were bleeped out. I'm glad the Sheriff
carrys a weapon and knows how to use it. By speaking the truth, he's
apparently put a target on his own back.

You go girl. And parents everywhere - LISTEN UP - address these issues with your children! Do not assume that because you have an open mind on these topics that your kids are not getting BAD information at school. I just had a very frank discussion with my 13 year old concerning Tyler Clementi's suicide. I almost died when I heard my 13 year say he thought people were gay because they "chose" to be that way. Whoa Nellie.... and the conversation has begun and will continue for many, many years to come.

Thanks. Reading the document in its entirety really puts into perspective exactly what the founding fathers were up against. And, at least for me, makes me all the more offended that the ignorant and opportunistic among us twist the founders into something they were not.

And just for the record... I don't remember studying the entirety of this
document in school either. I learned more about Texas history than I ever
did about American history. Sad, but true.
