The house where this ad was filmed is in Los Angeles, right around the corner from my house. It is currently on the market for $28.8 million. So whoever buys it will probably be tooling around town in a Ferrari, a Lamborghini or a McLaren rather than a Cadillac.

Just because Paul Morris is a narcissistic, disgusting slimeball sociopath who doesn't care about the health of his performers doesn't mean everyone in the industry follows his poor example. In the straight porn community (which is more affected by this law anyway), performers are required to undergo rigorous testing to help insure no one is infected with HIV or any other STD. If a model/actor tests positive for any STD, s/he cannot work on set until the STD is effectively treated/cured. And if s/he tests positive for HIV, s/he is no longer able to work as a porn model/actor. Is it a perfect system? No. But, thanks to that system, in the entire 30 year history of the HIV pandemic the number of models/actors who have been infected with HIV on set is less than two dozen. By any measure, that is an effective safety system.

I hate everything about Christmas. From the cloying sentimentality of inescapable Christmas music to the disgusting mass consumerism and shameless messages from retailers to buy! buy! buy! to the fact that it is a celebration of the birth of a prophet of a religion that demonizes gay people. Every year, I fantasize about a 6 week vacation, lasting from Thanksgiving until NYE, in a Muslim dominated country. And every year, I end up in the Bible belt, participating in a bunch of fucking nonsense just to avoid making waves with the family.

I saw 'The Theory Of Everything' a few days ago. It's a good film, and Benedict Cumberbatch is jawdroppingly brilliant in the role of Stephen Hawking. But I found the film to be a bit of a stealth 'message movie'. The film is based on the book, 'Traveling To Infinity: My Life With Stephen', written by Hawking's first ex-wife, Jane Wilde Hawking. The script makes a rather big deal about the fact that, as a student at Cambridge, Hawking was an outspoken atheist while Jane was a devout Christian. Toward the end of the film, the filmmakers try to portray Hawking as a deist by highlighting a sentence he wrote in his book 'A Brief History of Time' that referenced "the mind of God". I'm guessing that came straight out of Jane Hawking's book and was an attempt on her part to 'baptize' Hawking as it were. For the record, Hawking stated in an interview with El Mundo in September 2014 that he is an atheist because science provides a 'more convincing' explanation of the beginning of the universe than God does.

Thank you for your words. It's a long, complicated story.

In short, my parents are older; my mother is in poor health; and my brother is a total prick who, it could be argued, is emotionally abusive to them. So I really do feel obligated to go back home to help make the holiday a little sweeter for them.

Happily, they are not terribly religious. They attend church sporadically, but you'd never find them praying in public, saying a blessing before a meal, or quoting scripture. I'm terribly lucky in that regard. I wish I could say the same for extended family...

Thanks again for your words! It's comforting to know that I'm not the only person who finds this holiday/season a complete, ludicrous pain in the ass.

A close family member was treated for cancer at Mayo Jacksonville in 2010, so I spent quite a bit of time there during that year. It is an absolute armpit of a city. There is no culture, no sophistication, nor even any charm to be found there. The beaches are ugly. The ocean around Jacksonville is brown in color due to the fact that the St Johns River dumps polluted water into The Atlantic right at Jacksonville. I tried to find a belt one day and the best I could do was Dillard's department store. And yet, the people of Jacksonville all act not only as though they are living in some paradise but also that they are vastly superior to you because of it. I fucking hate Jacksonville.

I checked out the Facebook pages for the Duval Clerk of Courts, Ronnie Fusell, and his wife. They both identify as Christians. Both 'liked' the Christian propaganda movie 'God's Not Dead'. The wife references God in about every other Facebook post and quotes Biblical scripture in about every third post.

Add to that the fact that, prior to marriage equality coming to Florida, Fussell and his staff were perfectly happy to perform marriages and apparently didn't see it as any great interruption in workflow, but suddenly now have decided to stop performing marriages and, well, I think it's pretty hard to argue that the decision is anything but religious bigotry.

Aside from Duval County, where the City of Jacksonville is located, the other counties that have now discontinued marriage ceremonies are places where they'd likely have, *at most*, one gay marriage ceremony per year---if that. So the Clerks of Court in those counties are really just punishing straight couples.

I've been to Russia. The reason they have so many traffic accidents is because they all drive around drunk. It took me about 30 minutes to get a cab in Moscow one night, not because of a lack of available taxis but because every single driver I encountered was plastered until finally a sober one arrived.

I stumbled across "My Husband Is Not Gay" the other night and caught about half the episode. I have never seen such a display of shame, internalized hatred, denial of self/feelings, delusion (mostly on the part of the women), and outright fuckupedness in my entire life. It was painful to watch.

I went to high school with the guy who played the villainous, bigoted sheriff (Jim Walker?) in 'Selma'. On the night of President Obama's re-election, this guy posted on my Facebook wall: "This is a travesty and it's all the fault of you queers". He went on in private messages to call me a 'cocksucking abomination', to lecture me that 'God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve' (Oh, gee! I've never heard *that* one before!), and signed off by calling me a 'cocksucking piece of shit'. From what fellow classmates tell me, he thinks 'Selma' is his big break. I could not be more thrilled that it is getting ignored at the awards shows.

I agree. 'Boyhood' was a big yawner of a film for me. The story was underwhelming at best. The acting forgettable. The only interesting thing about it was the fact that they filmed it over 12 years.

In all too many cases, HIV is the *only* thing they see. It's so ridiculous. We now have data that shows an HIV+ guy who is undetectable can't infect a sex partner. And we have PrEP for guys who want to make extra certain they'll not get infected. But too many of them foolishly depend on sero-sorting and advertise 'Neg4Neg' or 'Neg UB2' while trolling for anonymous sex on Grindr or Scruff. So frustrating.

Someone worked for me who had previously done some work for NPH and David Burtka. When I inquired about whether or not the experience was enjoyable, the response was that NPH was a really nice guy. This person deliberately, and pointedly, refused to comment on David Burtka. Which told me everything I needed to know.

In other news, I think David Burtka looks more and more like Leona Helmsley with every passing year.

When he first came on the scene, I thought he was hot as hell. But then I read an interview where he talked about going to Folsom Street Fair with his mom during filming for 'Looking' saying "We hung out with drag queens, transgenders and people with HIV." So, clearly, he thinks of drag queens, 'transgenders' (WTF?!), and people with HIV as freaks.

And now, after this babble about how masculine he is and the implication that it makes him better than gay guys who are effeminate, I conclude that Russell Tovey is nothing but a narcissistic, misogynistic, HIV-phobic douche.
