In that I've thrown the concept of divorce out the window. It's just not an option. Only in the most extreme cases would I get a divorce. It's OK to speak to me directly. You don't have to sell me or yourself out here, I won't bite. Honestly, I'd be more inclined to help you than hurt you.

I think it is wonderful if you don't experience any prejudice and or racism. That is what I'm all about, I hope none of us here ever have to experience any unfair treatment.

My earlier comments were simply about the hardship many before me and I have sometimes faced in this industry. If you don't have to face it then people like harry webber, sanford moore and many many others work has not been in vain.

Please don't feel that you have to make another person of color with an opposing view your adversary to please other people you may think will be impressed and more readily accept you.

Listen, I'm not saying I hate advertising and all the people who work in it are evil. I have had the absolute best times of my life working in this industry. I have even made a ton of money in this business. I have met the coolest people in my life in advertising of every hue, race creed, ethnicity, religion, what have you. There are a lot of wonderful people in this business. Even the really cool people who publish this blog, who have been so kind to even have me as a guest blogger here.

So if you see no racism, nothing could make me happier. But you can't suggest what my peers might think. I have access to some of the most successful people of color in this industry. They have made it to the highest levels of this industry. They are not walking around blaming every personal failure on racism, but by the same token they are not denying its existence.

You don't really think that you are the only person of color who can differentiate personal or "portfolio" shortcomings from outside sources of influence do you?

No one is pointing fingers (unless you are point one at me). Just calling out ill will where we see it. Please don't delude yourself.

As I said before, I really do wish you all the best.

Re: The first BnB “I Love Black Men” week

This going to be a great week indeed! You really believe that thousands of creatives (and many more afraid to speak out for fear of retribution) are wrong on this issue. I have never doubted some minorities are "talented as hell." And I'd really like to see your numbers on "finance and dentistry" diversity statistics. I'm pretty certain you are wrong. This industry's numbers are on diversity are paltry at best. I suspect you choice those fields of finance and dentistry due to educational & trade requirements, so of course minorities must not be doing well there, right??

You are right, inequality sucks and we don't know if diversity training helps. I agree legislation or a law suit is needed.

The sad fact that you and many others are ignoring is "people of a more diverse background" do know about and work in this industry everyday. HELLO!!! Horton, hear the Whos hooting in Whoville already! No personal offense but that old hat line about knowing in high school is so played out. As I said before we've been hearing it for over 40 years. If I could get just you to understand that it would be a HUGE leap for us all.

The talent is there -- It is immense -- It exist at all levels -- it has been here for years. The talent is already in the industry and more is graduated every year. Every step of the way discrimination is a huge issue for nearly every one of them. I could show you more kick-ass books than you could shake a pasty Creative Director's finger at. But it has made no difference.

No one is making excuses. OK, maybe Al Sharpton... sometimes, but he doesn't count.

OK, HH (if that is your real name...) to prove my point about the talent being here for a loooong ass time; here's a lil quiz fer ya:

Who wrote the phrase, "Strong enough for a man, but made for a woman?"

Who wrote, "I'm stuck on a band-aid -- cause a band-aid's stuck on me?"

Who came up with the concept of the Pillsbury Dough-Boy?

Who wrote the brand story that created the hip-hop image of Sprite that wiped "7-Up" off the map? Have you seen a 7-up lately?

While your at it look up Georg Olden and learn a thing or two about that cbs "eye" logo that's still in use today.

There are so many more but I just don't have time. But I can tell you this, most of those people may have felt isolated in there dept at the time, but their brilliance was no isolated occurrence.

One.

Re: Adversi+y Mission Lives Beyond OneClub Split - mediabistro.com: AgencySpy

HH you can't be serious. Just like everything else in this country the odds are more against minorities. I'm not inferring that it is impossible, but it is just hard enough to be missed as a viable career choice.

And once you get into advertising as a minority the odds become even greater to have a long term successful career. It's tough for anyone, but with added stress, tension, shortchanging, favoritism and racial/gender bias that is so commonplace in this industry it's a wonder anyone "other" can make it past the front desk.

It comes down to ethnicity way more often than you can imagine. I know tons of people with the same story, "they called and said they loved my book, but I was treated like crap and sent me packing when they saw my skin color."

Why would you start with just high schools when you have seasoned people in the business. I would suggest recruiting laterally instead of this bottom up strategic failure of the past 40 years. The "diverse crowd" already exist, the segregation is the problem.

Re: similarities with disruption

I can't wait to buy your book. I don't take "steal" to mean directly plagiarize as much as allow the influence or even confluence of ideas and inspiration to grossly inform the conceptualization process. The problem too often in "copying" lies in the execution portion of the process. It is the single most obvious attribution of any project. It's the concepts that can be most malleable and applicable to a myriad of endeavors. I also believe that concepts are the easiest to come by if the proper tools of creativity are the foundation of said projects.

Re: Microsoft Reduces Store Employees to Dancing Fools - mediabistro.com: AgencySpy

Don't embarrass MC Hammer.
