These emails span 2007, 8, and 9. Interestingly Asher, Burleigh, and Lauinger had less than 40 combined for the same period. And it looks very much like they all may have done their email during breaks, there is so little and it is so mundane. The other council members, a big fat ZERO. I did not say and do not believe this is about lovers chats. You greatly misrepresent the point when you say so. You certainly breach my understanding of quality journalism by admitting that you have not even read the emails. And stil you are willing to blindly, enthusiastically forward in support of the man. This is about doing the job one has been elected to do. It is about the trust people have given him by voting for him. (And, sadly, I did vote for Mr. Sternoff.)

It is ever so clear after reading Sternoff’s detailed descriptions of other council member’s body order/functions, their ‘cologn’, their bad hair, and more, that Sternoff’s behavior is a thorough example of what, in adolescents, we label disinhibition. In other words, he does not constrain himself, he does not make connections between his behavior and possible impact on others or even on the possible negative consequences to himself. A close friend (who is not on your list of ‘hate Sternoff’ or scorched earth) had a good word for describing Sternoff’s behavior towards other council members, “contemptuous”.

I doubt this would any longer be an issue if you, the other council members, and just a small portion of the public read Mr. Sternoff’s emails.

Curtis Thompson,
Kirkland

Re: Parkplace development plans ruled to be in violation of Growth Management Act, Environmental Policy - Kirkland Reporter

Why, oh why, can our city council throw $250,000 away (virtually supporting illegal development) while proposing a regressive utility tax?

And now we have candidates for council positions funded in large part by people and corporations outside of Kirkland (developers and developer employees) trying mightly to gain a majority of council positions and thereby railroad in massive and even illegal projects.

Where are the promises of council members (years ago) to clearify the 'vision' of Downtown Kirkland?

And why, oh why, hasn't the city council awakened to the concept that what they call 'Downtown' is far more realistically 'Historical Kirkland' or even, "Old Kirkland"? Either of these titles are far more accurate and reflect the lack of infrastructure (street widths, etc.) that are needed for high level and high density commercial development.

So, why, why, why?

Re: Sternoff emails found to be inappropriate - Kirkland Reporter

Mr. Sternoff:

Do not spend much time rethinking your options. Your contributions to the city are paramount - if not national news.

Move on. You can still support those with better judgement and behavior.

Re: Councilman subject of investigation for lewd, threatening emails - Kirkland Reporter

To Bob Sternoff: You can top off your absurd and offensive behavior by a) pretending you actually apologized - get real! and b) pretending you do not owe the citizens of Kirkland your resignation. Your conduct is so unbecoming it would disqualify an official elected to oversee outhouses.

To Mary-Alice Burleigh: Get your head out of the sand and deal with reality! You were elected to look out for the best interests of Kirkland and its citizens. You can't do that with your eyes closed and your ears plugged. If you don't like Mr. Stern off’s behavior, help us replace him with someone honestly interested in the proceedings at meetings and (please, please) someone a lot brighter.

As for the vendetta view: Don't make this more complicated than it needs to be. Nobody made Mr. Sternoff do what he did (90 times).
