Netanyahu's visit and the one that followed by Indonesian president Joko Widodo were in the main business trips promoting trade and economic ties. Both would claim win/win outcomes but I leave it to the economists to call that one.

PS It is hard to recognise friend and foe alike on Australian social media as many users have added a title or made other changes to their names to fit in with the new order. I now have friends called Countess and Earl as well as Sir and Dame. There is nothing like a dame!

Our mother woke us early on Christmas morning 1974 to tell that we'd have to have the traditional family lunch without her. Cyclone Tracy had devastated Darwin the night before, with 71 killed and lots more injured. Most Darwin residents were homeless.

Mum didn't wait for the call. At the time she worked in Melbourne's Red Cross HQ in the missing persons section where they united refugees and other migrants with lost family, here and overseas. We didn't see much of her in the next fortnight or so. There are two kinds of people in this world...

Australia has seen recent protests against the building of a new McDonalds in the Melbourne hills (Local Fight to Stop McDonalds in their Hills http://bit.ly/120mZus) and Coca Cola for its court action to stop container deposit laws (Coca Cola Machine 'Out of Order' in Australia http://bit.ly/14fcM1F).

It seems everything is connected in our global economy.
