For me it is a challenge to remember that it is the depression speaking. It is a challenge to try and understand a world I have never visited. It is a challenge to have patience and understanding, something I'll admit I've failed at many times. It is scary when I see it coming and I know I don't have the ability to stop it. I know I can't even imagine how you feel or how you fight.

However I do know that I do care and hope that you are able to find what is needed to help lift you from this dark place. Be well my friend.

Re: The Daily Huff II

It looks like a fantastic place. I know the popular position for those with a belief in religon and strong faith is that God never gives us more than we can handle. I think most of the time that is true but sometimes instances appear like with the Carrigan family which give even the most faithful a reason to pause.

Re: The Creepiness that is Google Street View

Do you like the idea that someone anywhere in the world can look up your name and find your address, plug it into Google Street View and check out your home, neighborhood, possible vehicles and/or license numbers? Yes, walking down the street someone can check out my home but I don't like the fact anyone can find out that much detail about where I live with just one Google search.

Re: True Crime Tumblelog

TMZ has no redeeming quality, but as long as people watch and read they will continue. If only people would realize that each time we accept this kind of trash we help to lower the standards of common decency so the next story will contain subject or details that are even worse.

Re: True Crime Tumblelog

Wesley Ayers was located sometime Tuesday while sleeping in a stolen vehicle parked in a Walmart parking lot in Athens, TN. Both Rider and Griffin were with him.

Re: The Creepiness that is Google Street View

I've thought Google Street View was sort of creepy since I first found it when mapping a travel route. I find it unsettling that in minutes anyone can be staring at my house with nothing more than a few clicks of a mouse. I realize that anyone with just minimal talent can find all types of information on all of us but putting images of private homes on the Net just seems wrong.

Re: A Pirate Dancin’ Kinda Day

Glad to hear that Dylan is fine. My youngest niece did something similar with a penny or so we thought. Doctors visit, xrays and then the "I was only kidding" comment came out. It turned out well but was very scary even as the aunt.

As for your "Pirate Dance" idea.....I think it would be great! Even if it isn't possible I believe I'll do a mental "Pirate dance" as I greet each new challenge and adventure. Past history would suggest I'll be dancing like crazy.

Re: "Until Justice rolls down like waters..."

I watched my two nieces on Monday as their school was closed for MLK day. At almost 11 and 6 they typically can amaze and amuze me most of the time. When the 6 year old was playing computer games she closed a window and found a news site open on another. The lead story was about Martin Luther King Jr and showed his photo. Emmy looked at the screen and proclaimed "that is Martin Luther King jr, the man who said everyone is equal". I was impressed as even though SE Michigan is very diverse we have much room for change and improvement.

My nieces were foreign born and have darker skin color than most of their friends and neighbors. When they arrived here we were concerned for how they would be accepted but as the years have passed we see much improvement. There is still work to be done but MI Mom is correct. If we can continue to teach the young, eventually we may actually reach the dream.

Re: Dylan, at the Door

Such a sweet child with such good parents. Your commitment to Dylan has always been evident even with the limited writing you have done about him. I rejoice with all of you as he begins to lift that veil which keeps him detached from the world around him.

Our 25 year old niece here in Michigan teaches Autistic children. She's a wonderful young woman with patience and understanding and a special connection to those dealing with Autism. She worked during her teen years for a neighbor helping care for their Autistic child and decided she wanted to make a difference. She is finishing her Masters in Special Education this year. I wish we could send her to you!

Re: The Mad Professor’s Tale, Part II

After some further searching I see that Cecil Stanley Physick was born in Somerset County, England about 1883. In the 1901 British Census he is working as a footman in at a home in Devon county, England. He immigrated to the US on 28 June 1906 through New York. No sign of him until the 1920 US Census where he is living with his wife Ester, in Glen Cove, NY. I would imagine you are correct that he was loyal. Since he continued working in this type of field he must have had a calling to that type of work. It wouldn't be the best paying of careers but if he loved the work sometimes money isn't everything. It appears he died in April of 1966 in Kings Park, New York. His death record is listed in the Social Security Death Index under Cecil Physick. One would guess that there were many interesting things that he was witness to. Of course being loyal enough to risk his life he wouldn't be the type to speak or write about it.

Re: The Mad Professor’s Tale, Part II

I haven't found any proof of his employer in 1930 but the WWI draft registration for Physick lists his job as Steward for his employer J.P. Morgan. The registration is dated September 12, 1918 over three years after the attack. I would assume that it wasn't only loyality to his employer which kept him working for the Morgan family.

Re: The Mad Professor’s Tale, Part II

What an interesting story! It does deserve a deeper study and additional coverage. As a llong time genealogist I love the addition of the information on the surviving family and how they dealt with the tragedy. Your writing continues to amaze me as it gets better with each piece you put out here. Continued good luck as we enter a hopefully wonderful new year!

Re: You’re in the right place…

For a guy who is taking a break you sure seem to be working hard.
