I'm happy with the Best Picture noms... it's going to be hard to pick a winner though. Inception is just a work of genius, while The Social Network was handled much more intensely than what most would've anticipated (and worked a treat). And then there's Toy Story 3. So much to love.

Glad to see a Greek film's received a Best Foreign Film nom - their cinema is slowly on the rise... as is Australian film on centre stage with Jacki Weaver's nod. The entire night will be full of tight contests!

I agree that it was a bit of a mix... parts were so far-fetched and others not drawn on enough. Seth Rogen can't be taken seriously (it's part of his popular charm though, you can't hold it against him) - and the film doesn't know where to go as a result. A light-hearted way to pass the time though for sure!

I didn't mind this film at all... I think Hathaway's truly blossomed as an actress to take seriously and did well with the mannerisms of a Parkinson's sufferer!

I didn't bother to see how it fared, although it is strange given it's the holidays...

The Girl Who Played With Fire has a wider release than its predecessor but perhaps it's TOO quick for fans... I certainly didn't realise it was coming out so soon! Perhaps people aren't aware of it yet?

I saw it last week and while it does have its faults, I agree that just enjoying the Transformers and their battles is half the fun! Sure, it could've been downplayed a bit; certainly trimmed in terms of running time, and a slightly meatier plot could've benefited the audience, but we pay to see explosions from Michael Bay don't we? While I would have rated it a bit higher, reviews serve as a form of opinion. They don't have to be to everyone's tastes - otherwise our job would be pointless!

In a way our review is a reflection that suggests audiences should be able to expect greatness for films with high expectations that we pay for. It was always going to make huge b/o profits, but they can't just churn out a film and expect everyone to like it. We aren't the only place with an average rating unfortunately... picked up my weekend paper to see their thoughts on it as even worse. Guess that's the good thing about this film though, it's really sparking a bit of debate!

Oh, don't say that!!!! I'm so excited about this, was even thinking about it during my exam last night! Although really that wasn't my fault, the lecturer decided to be ironic by getting us to write a story on 'Optimus Prime and the Masters of the Universe' and its star...

Well, if what you say is true then they have one more chance to get it right again... I should re-visit the greatness of the first one today to regain my hopes :)

That took me at least 15 mins to load I reckon... but quite impressive! I know how hard you guys worked on that and it came out trumps! I'm not going to be too critical, but I'll say I noticed the volume differences in scenes too (only slightly though, no big deal).

Interesting narrative, the cast were all pretty good... good work!

It was at Nova Cinemas in Adelaide... you know, it really struck me as odd - now I think of it I'm pretty sure their screen wasn't adjusted properly.

It was on and off, but they came halfway down the screen at times - which has just made me realise that I've seen this film in quite the unique way! My apologies, will do my best to edit it soon.

It really is a great film, and congratulations for the Cannes reception!

Haha, great pun! It makes sense that you don't find Twilight that intriguing because you're a guy (although that doesn't mean others can't get into it), but I don't think it was that badly shot - and it does have good things going for it. Let the Right One In is more chilling though, for sure - and it has a cult following, which the Twilight books originally had (here in Australia at least) before the whole franchise became too commercialised. It's a shame really!

3.5? Really? Ok, I'll admit that Liotta being paired with Rogen was intriguing, but that this film's better than Zack and Miri? Now that film wasn't the greatest, but at least the audience got more out of Rogen than here. As I said above, not saying it's his fault - it's a result of underwhelming material.

I was just really disappointed. I expected laughs, was counting on them, but none came out :(

As for The Notebook, don't bother. I'm not sure if I was jipped coz I had a bad copy on DVD but I thought it was overrated. I'm all for romance, but it was way too slow and not really interesting.

Craig, i just didn't think it was very smart, which is something most come to expect from comedy, even crude comedy, now. I'm surprised you thought there were shocks, I certainly didn't register any of them - if there's no reaction to a full-frontal of a really unattractive man then what is the point? Rogen is talented but even he couldn't save the totally shit material. Not his fault - everyone works best with their own creations...

Just saw this, thought I'd read the review again... pretty much agree with it actually. Killer soundtrack, plenty of laughs but the script was drawn out for about the last half-hour. Philip Seymour Hoffmann is pretty cool when he's not all creepy-like, huh?

Bit of trivia: Tom Sturridge was a favourite to be cast as Edward for 'Twilight' (of course, eventually losing out to Robert Pattinson)... good to see him in this though!
