Completely concur with this. And it applies to all aspects: how much much they love their partner, how great their job is, how awesome their house is, etc etc. I figure that if you're really happy with all those things, you'd be enjoying them vs posting about it on FB.

Congrats Blair, on 5 incredible years. Glad to have followed along all these years....I'd like to say it's been a blast but honestly there's been just too many nausea inducing posts, so it's been rough at times! Haha!
I love the unique name posts but the sanctimommy posts are the ones that usually get under my skin, like the post where the mommies bitched on Nick Jr's FB page about the shows and schedules.

All the best for many years to come!!

So what was the reason why Wendy's wasn't serving breakfast at 10:24 am? Were they all out of breakfast stuffs? Were their clocks running fast? Did the breakfast chef go home? Certainly there must have been an explanation for such a breach in breakfast serving protocol.

Since when does a drive thru have a limited customer base? So next time I pull up to a drive thru, I should expect to hear, "Good afternoon, welcome to McD's. Before I can help you please advise me of your physical disability or handicap, or if you have young children in your car today."

"What? No handicap? No children?

"I'm sorry ma'am. You're not handicapped nor do you have children in your car. Please park your car and come inside for your order, or be on your way, and remember the drive thru rules the next time you visit McD's!"

I have one set of obsessive parents who I think are trying to break records with Elf on the Shelf creativity. I think they're missing the point, for the most part, as their elf is "found" in contrived and overly detailed setups. Another friend has kept it simple, just placing the Elf in various places for her child to find each morning, no big staged setups.

As others have said, I am very sorry about your experience, but these examples are not people asking for help, they are demanding it. Plus most, if not all, of these examples are before the baby arrives, so the parent(s) have no idea what their situation with their newborn would be. Yes, absolutely ask for help if you need it, and I am sure good friends will be more than happy to help. Demand help before the baby even arrives? Not cool.

Totally agree. But motherhood/parenthood wasn't this huge martyrdom thing like it is today. Yes, there were martyrs back in those days, but in general parenthood wasn't synonymous with martyrhood. People expected you to cope and deal (because they had done just that), were helpful to whatever degree they were able or interested, and life went on.
