Seriously though, I agree with almost everything Chris said on the React podcast and I'm still disappointed with many aspects of the Switch, but I also think there are quite a few positive elements of the console (even if some of them are just wishful thinking on my behalf) and I just wanted to highlight them.

Is the price worth it on PS4? No, probably not.

Is the price worth it if you don't own a console but have PS Now built into your TV? Definitely! (assuming it works as smoothly as advertised)

Great article Tony. I think the industry and us as “Gamers”
have a lot of work to do in order to clear up the negative association that
comes with the word “gamer”. The general public doesn’t view games as an
interactive storytelling medium, they view games as toys for kids. So naturally when you proclaim yourself to be a “Gamer” many people will assume you’re just a big kid who never grew up.

We aren’t helping this stereotype either; “gamers” come across as arrogant, foul-mouthed, know-it-all’s and very rarely have anything positive to say when hidden behind an internet connection. I’ll go to youtube now, search Call Of Duty, click on the first video and post the first comment I
see;

“Hmmm lets see, Cod Advanced Warfare, a game about more future shit with barely any of the campaign weapons and abilities appearing in the multiplayer where we'll have to put up with 5 year old quick scopers, corner campers, head glitchers, and mic spammers. Or Battlefield
Hardline, where I can play as a cop fighting hellbent batshit insane criminals in HUGE maps, with all campaign features appearing on multiplayer, a more mature community, destructible environments, amazing graphics, and overall less bullshit. I think Ill take Cod instead, because you know, all the cool cats play it!”

Lovely. I’m so proud to be associated with people like that. But maybe Call of Duty is an extreme case. What if I do the same for “Mario Bros”;

How can we expect others to respect us if we don’t respect our own people/industry? Like you, gaming has probably saved my life. I grew up being a horrible and violent kid, living in one of the worst areas of London (no, we’re not all tea and crumpets). Most of my friends sold and took drugs to help them escape from reality but for me, my drugs were videogames. My sole reason for wanting to do something with my life was so I could afford to buy videogames and I actually vowed to never go to jail because I couldn’t fathom the thought of missing an E3. Sorry to ramble but to summarize, being a gamer can be a wonderful thing, we just need to clean up our act and further educate “outsiders” on what being a gamer actually means.

I have great internet speed but I had nothing but trouble when trying to play Mario Kart Wii with people I actually know. Admittedly, I haven't played the games in years so maybe it works perfectly fine now but I remember being bitterly disappointed. Lag wasn't the only issue though, the whole friend code system and lack of voice chat made it impossible to know who was playing at any in-particular time. Most of these problems were due to the platform and not the actual game though so I don't fault the developers.

I thought Sunshine was definitely a refinement of Mario 64, at least in terms of controls.
