I am so sick of people not understanding what Romney was saying. He wasn't denigrating the 47%. He was just saying at a private fund raiser to his constituents that no matter what he did, there is that percentage of voters that would never vote for anyone but Obama.They want free stuff & to heck with the rest of us. Mother Jones, a very liberal paper leaked that video. I understood it from the outset but liberals, the biggest PC police totally misinterpreted the message.

I usually agree with Cal but not this time. I had read about Dr. Carson several months ago. As an RN for 34 years, I was very impressed with him. I usually don't like doctors, as they are too arrogant with gigantic egos. I felt Dr. Carson to be a humble man. He was just stating the facts & it made people squirm, too bad! Pres. Obama looked like he was sulking & pouting. He thinks everything is about him. I think he has more character flaws than any president in my lifetime. The press needs to quit fawning over him & ask him the tough questions. I don't feel Obama is my president. He has divided this country & set us back 50 years. Some one needs to call him on it. The press won't do it. I believe Dr. Carson was stating his beliefs & was respectful doing it. At least, he follows his beliefs. Obama calls himself a Christian but believes in late term abortions. What hypocrisy.

I accept your apology. Truthfully, I had no right to butt into a local matter. Since my daughter is coming with me, she wondered if the seals would be there. I said I'd check when I ran into your local controvery. I should have left well enough alone, since I didn't have all the facts. Thank you for clarifying things for me.
When we first moved here 6 years ago there was a big dispute about a super walmart coming in. There was a lot of heated discussions & we were opposed to them coming into our small town. There was a vote taken. We won, or so we thought. Lo & behold within a year the Wal-Mart people got a revote & rezoning & won it by 1 vote! Hmmm! They rezoned our residential to commercial. I'm originally from Indiana & know Wal-Mart has ruined many of the small towns there by running the "mom&pop" stores out of business, so I haven't been in a Wal-Mart since. My daughter was 18 at the time & very disappointed when she saw how the process went. Still no Wal-Mart but I think the economy has something to do with it.
Anyway, hope things get resolved where you are so that every body benefits in some way. I once said I'd never go to California & here we are making our 8th trip in 4 years! My oldest lives in Seattle & we've been along the Oregon coast, also but it's so dreary up there so I'd rather visit the California coastline.
P.S. If you are a Wal-Mart exec, please don't send me a nasty-gram!

In re-reading my comment, I do admit that I come across as harsh. I am not an activist or harsh. I've been a cardiac RN for 34 years taking care of all kinds of people. I go to California simply to relax & to see the Pacific Ocean, because years of nursing have taken their toll. I thank you for the warm welcome & your eloquent grasp of the English language! Glad you enjoy living in California, so we won't cross paths in Colorado!

We live in Colorado & enjoy staying at the Grande Colonial & walking down to the beach to observe the seals, as many others do. It is a big tourist attraction. If the seals go, then we won't be coming to La Jolla, we'll go somewhere else, where we can observe the wildlife. I dare say that the tourist dollars will dwindle considerably. If I'm not mistaken, there is another place not far from there where the children can play in the water. Personally, I don't think that particular area is very safe for children, anyway. I can't believe the hoopla over this! Yet, further north Californians let crops whither & die because of some stupid little fish that nobody cares about! Wouldn't you rather have food to eat?!
