America's problem is the government has gone from protecting America to being worrisome whether or not the international community (or the UN) will like what we do. A nation of laws you say? Then you must be against illegal aliens in the USA since they have broken the law.

Think how many thousands of lives and $$$ would have been saved if the USA sent an assassin to simply kill Sadam and his sons instead of invading an entire nation. And oh please - Obama himself has put an assassination order on an American citizen:

"The New York Times and The Washington Post confirm that the Obama White House has now expressly authorized the CIA to kill al-Alwaki no matter where he is found, no matter his distance from a battlefield."

Prisoners? I'm all for carrying out the LAWFUL execution order of the thousands on death row. If you truly believe in the law you will support that as well.

I have a feeling you'd prefer to endorse only the laws that are convenient to you and your political persuasion.

I totally agree Bugger_man. What matters most to me is stopping - and reversing - this growing fascist government at both the state and federal level. Want to eat fatty foods? Government forbids it. Want to ride a motorcycle without a helmet? Government forbids it. Want to be euthanize because you have a fatal cancer and you're in extreme pain? Government (most) forbids it.

Now we have the IRS - the new gestapo - making sure everyone has their big government mandated health insurance. It is getting worse and worse by the day.

I had hopes that "liberals" would fight against such big government controls - but the are fueling and encouraging it. The "liberals" of today are not the "liberals" of the 70's.

While I'm against the USA in Afghanistan (and Iraq) in reality, they are doing no worse than Islamic terrorists that hunt out targets to bomb, snatch people off the streets and cut their heads off, or simply shoot to death innocent people.

Just look at how this jerk has mismanaged the BP oil event. Anyone with a brain as president would have ordered barriers and oil suckers to the site within the first 24 hours, but not this idiot. Now - today - he is even trying to say some in Congress are to blame. Obama is a total worthless fool.

On the plus side, in letting the oil reach the coast, he did give thousands of trial lawyers (one of his huge contributors) opportunity to get their scummy claws into the "sue BP" frenzy.

If you really are from Canada please explain why your taxes are so high (healthcare).

Explain why your big government has to close hospitals and clinics in an effort to contain healthcare costs.

Explain why my Canadian mother-in-law has to wait over a year to get a hip replacement.

Explain why my Canadian sister-in-law, an RN at a major hospital in Alberta, had to wait over 9 months to get a tumor removed from her head.

Explain why my little 8 y/o step-nephew in Canada died in a Canadian hospital because they had to wait for needed studies and test results to be done.

Explain why Canadians with $ cross the boarder into the USA go get better and faster care from the private sector hospitals.

Perhaps if liberals encouraged people to take care of themselves instead of relying of this growing fascist government, these issues would happen less.

You could go to Canada and wait for over a year as my mother-in-law must do just for a hip replacement. Take a number and stand in a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnng line, and hope the hospital you were scheduled to go to doesn't get closed like many in Canada are (in vain efforts to control costs).

Age has nothing to do with the crime - a kid, as I watched, is fully able to behead a living person just as efficiently as an adult.

I'm neither party, however all I see from Democrats has been back room deals, secret meetings, etc. Democrats need to shed their obsessive thinking that BIG controlling government is something good - when in fact it is something bad.

Whatever ideology has taken over most Democrats and some Republicans is destroying America. There are more NSA buildings going up than ever before, our freedoms are diminishing and replaced with government controls, and we are becoming like those pods in the Matrix series - just existing so an out-of-control government can drain (then dispose of) us.

What ever happened to the peace and freedom and anti-government spirit from the 60's and 70's? I think even AlterNet has abandoned this spirit.

Wal-Mart represents freedom of choice for consumers and promotes competition. The reason the Wal-Mart business model is successful if because consumers want more for their money. These stores are magnets that pull consumers off busy roads and into communities that people might otherwise never stop at.

The real issue is the power of the union machine and their attempts to stop non-union competition. Unions use all sorts of tactics and threats and dooms-day scares.

Drive by any Wal-Mart and see a busy parking lot with happy consumers - happy they have a choice and happy they are not victims of the manipulation of the union machine.

I believe in crimes - not hate crimes. This is a concept conceived by liberals where some races and classes get preferential treatment over others - and that is wrong.

It also is a way for the federal government to intrude into what was once a state's internal matter - and that is wrong.

It also is a way for government to dictate what constitutes "hate", and is a prelude to criminalizing free speech/expression. In most all cases only white straight people will be the target of "hate crime" prosecution.

Recent examples:

1 - 4 students painted anti-Obama graffiti over pro-Obama graffiti in NC State Univ. "Free Expression Tunnel". Well excuse me - NO FREE EXPRESSION if you're not black. The NAACP wanted the white students charged with a hate crime, but lost on that move and now demands the students be expelled. Guess the NAACP only believes in "free expression" if the expressing is done by blacks huh?

2 - After the election in CA homosexuals vandalized Calvary Chapel in Chino Hills (served as an official collection point for the petitions to get Proposition 8 on the Golden State ballot). Not even any talk of a hate crime - why? Because the church is mostly white folk, not black. If it were a black church "hate crime" accusations would be on the top of the list. Homosexuals are exempt from hate crime charges.

3 - In Palm Springs, CA an elderly white woman was assaulted by violent homosexuals because she was straight. Absolutely no talk of any "hate crime" charges involved - homosexuals are exempt from hate crime charges.

4 - Bad news for blacks maybe. In the same CA elections homosexuals rage went against blacks as well - straight blacks - that voted against homo-marriage. Racial slurs, minor assaults, etc.- but no mention of any "hate crime". Sorry - but homos trump blacks on the "hate crime" agenda.

Through Google alerts I capture certain news topics - one of which is "hate crime". I can almost put a small chart of who is protected the most and who the least. - and that is not equality.

There was no personal attack in my comment. I responded to the posting - simple as that.

I'm not sure what you are talking about "supporting facts". If you mean whose war it is then I would suggest you check into how our government works and which branch has what authority.

I do get tweaked when anyone trys to come across as caring about children, yet at the same time has a position about children that is totally opposite - like abortion.

Now I don't know if that applies to you personally - only you know that. The comment was directed to readers that like to blame America for all woes while supporting child killing in the USA.

However - if we are talking about supporting proof - can you prove that Saddam would have killed less innocent people than he already had if the USA did not invade? Just check the net for pics of little children and entire families that died - simply because they breathed the poison gas of Saddam. Is that the "better" scenario under Saddam you are trying to justify?

It will never happen because the crimes would have to apply to each and every Democrat in Congress as well. In reality, Iraq is not "Bush's war", but Congress. Only Congress can declare war.

Not only that but for the past 2 years the Democrat-controlled Congress has been funding thier (Congress) war.

Not only that but your hero of the fatherland (Obama) will continue what Congress has started as well as allocating MORE troops and resources into the Afghan occupation.

The only hatred I've been observing is from the pro-Obama group that continues to be racist by focusing on Obama's race and not the political position.

Remember all the anti-Bush hate that has and continues to spew from liberals? Some critizised it as anti-American but the liberals proclaimed it as being patriotic with dissent.

Now it's the Democrats turn and instead of seeing anti-Obama speech as being patriotic with dissent - suddenly it's racist and hateful.

What goes around comes around.

I'm sure anyone that objects to Obama or even displays a shirt made by Obamaites will be labeled as racist, as anti-black, or other hate crap such as that. So STOP hating everyone that doesn't love Obama - please.
