Brittanee Drexe's body was found May 11th, 2022, and that led, almost immediately, to the arrest of long-suspected Raymond Moody (age 62 in 2022) one year later. He confessed, pleaded guilty at trial, and was convicted. He was sentenced to life in prison plus 30 years.

Brown is definitely responsible since he signed the contract, but theoretically, IF, and that is a HUGE "IF", the trainer did do the damage, he could still go after the trainer for the damages.

P.S. I know this from having owned a computer networking, aka IT, company for 24 years, and have either read about these scenarios, or have seen it happen to companies first hand (I don't do it, but am there to clean up the mess). In addition, I specialize in law firms, so I have had these specific discussions with several lawyers over the years, and been privy to the aftermath discussions with companies, that have been caught. It is not pretty.

I am reading about all the cheap keys, and shaking my head. They are fake generated keys, and worthless in terms of legal licensing. You may as well get a free cracked key out there because that is ultimately no different. You are technically a software pirate using illegal software if you do this.

Although in practice the fine is much less, and the chances of you ever getting caught are virtually zero if you are a home user, the theoretical fine is $150,000 per copyright infraction, and if you do it in a business environment, or are the one selling these keys, you could also theoretically tack on 5 years in prison per copy. Also, if you are doing it in a business environment, and are the IT manager, you can also be held personally responsible for the fine. That was all for government getting involved.

The software company can also just come after you in civil court. This, by the way, is THE most common scenario for getting caught: Someone with a grudge leaves a company, and makes a phone call. Typically, they ultimately settle for $100-200K with a company depending on the severity the infraction, but will take you to the cleaners in court if you don't just admit it, and pay up.

OK, on to the transfer of an OEM license... again, you can make it work technically, but it is the same as having no license. The software agreement states that it is only for the original piece of equipment, and is not transferable. If the computer dies, so does the license, and this goes for OEM Microsoft Office too (one really nice thing about retail Office if that the license allows two installs, think laptop and desktop, provided they are typically used by one user, that is, it is not for two people). The reason for this, and it blows up the theory that "I already paid for it" is that a legitimate OEM license is about $80, and although it is very confidential information, surely a lot cheaper for Dell since they probably negotiated a very good deal. Legal software licenses typically do not vary much, if at all, so I would only buy from Dell, NewEgg, and (PC) Connection, for example, so you know you bought genuine software.

Also, the same principle applies if you are not a student, or otherwise qualify for an academic license, but buy it anyway: Legally speaking, your license is not valid and equally worthless as a cracked copy.

Ultimately, with the exception of the business scenario I have above or you are the thief selling these bogus copies, you will never get caught, so it boils down to one thing: "What kind of person am I?" Are you an honest person, or the type who would steal from a tip jar when no one is looking, because make no mistake about it, a cheap or free, illegally used license is stealing.

You are an idiot. First, there were, clearly, witnesses since the witnesses were the ones, who called the cops, and if the victims had done anything to warrant it, they would have been arrested too.
Second, short of being physically violent first, there is NOTHING that warrants that criminal, and unprofessional, behavior. It should have been a felony charge from the looks of it.
