glad you're back on your blog . I always enjoy reading it. I left the 2 pieces i got from you in July at the mt. house and I really miss using them-esp. the coffee mug. Count me in for the drawing!

sitting here drinking iced coffee out of one of your cups--like the ones that are holding your brushes--your leaf and vine decorations look great. esp. fond of the birds and bugs. fauna adds a lot to the flora.

the pots look wonderful--I especially like the little birds that I can just see on the edges of some pieces. wish I could be in Charlotte. Good luck!

How was the Mint museum sale?Bet everyone loved your work--esp. those pieces with the flora and fauna. I'm off to my studio to throw 10 teapots for upcoming fall shows.You've made my day. Thanks again.

hey Michael,
I have been reading your blog and I do know that you are
super busy, so I completely understand about my "prize" delay. I
noticed that you sent my email at 2:05 AM-- I'm impressed with your
stamina! Glad to read that you plan to put more birds on the vines
since I'm such a bird fan ( yours are especially well suited to your
pots).
good luck with your firing-- I'm busy glazing too- over
150 pieces for fall shows but my firing's a lot easier. Electric ,
computerized, firing down cycle,etc. glazing's complicated though
with multiple layers, small paint brushes for small birds, waxing,
dipping... somehow though it's just about my favorite part.
Looking forward to receiving my
prize but I'm in no hurry.

hi Michael,
Haven't read your blog since Wednes. due to marathon glazing. Your bird plates and cups look wonderful. I especially like the plates--I'm sure they'll be a big hit at the Spruce Pine sale. I won't be bringing anything to Penland til next Spring. Can barely get enough pots together for my fall events-- much less galleries! Good luck with the firing--did you find helpers?

hi Michael,decided to read your blog before yoga class this morning and was delighted to see your beautiful pots. The birds are great--each with his own personality which is what makes fauna so much fun. Also it's intriguing to me that you can't tell if these pots were made this week or a century ago.

hi michael --what a wonderful surprise ! I logged on to your blog after a long day in the studio and saw the beautiful bird plate. I am thrilled. Also you were so kind to mention my web site . Thanks! I'm really looking forward to seeing the bird in person. He looks so chipper. I can hardly wait.
Read your account of the Spruce Pine sale and it looked great. Especially liked your pot with the white oval spot for the bird. It really looked fabulous. Glad you had a good sale. Got my eye on one of your bird Obama cups-- got to figure out how to do ebay first.

hi Michael. My plate arrived yesterday and it's even better in person. The leaf and vine is especially nice--so lyrical--i didn't notice it in the picture cuz my eye was glued on the great little bird. Thank you so much. Can't believe my luck! I plan to keep it in my studio for lunch.
I have a question for you. Do you mix wax with your under glaze or slip to paint on your pots? At the bisque stage? Also what about colored underglazes mixed with wax? Any info would be welcome-thanks

beautiful pot--if you click on it, you can see the bird in great detail. Couldn't find the bug but the bird is gorgeous.

I logged right in so I'll do the survey--1st I had to make sure I could.( log in) Although I enjoy reading your blog almost daily, I rarely comment. You know, I don't remember having to log in to make comments--seems like I just used to send in my comments. Oh well , guess spending so much time in my studio is making me drifty. hope your cold goes away quickly.

i've always loved your breakfast cups--the porcelain ones are great. Also the copper plate with vine and dots is lovely. The e kiln does good work.

Thanks Michael for introducing Roman Scheidel. His work is incredible. So it is yours. I am looking forward to see it out of the kiln. Thanks for all your writing, it is very kind of you to share so much.
