My new fav show: "Skins" on BBC.
About the BBC channel: They can say "shit", and only blank (not beep) the "u" in fuck? Nudity (R rated) is totally okay. I guess the FCC doesn't watch the BBC.
What really cracks me up is that parts are subtitled. They are speaking English...

You are reacting with such fear. Things have much been worse (historically) in this country and they always get better.
Remember 9/11? the Great Depression?? Hitler???
Individuals deal with MUCH worse than losing their jobs/money/security, etc. and manage to go on. The sky isn't falling just yet.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. People are stupid. They were happy to get their "Stimulus" checks and they'll be happy to bail out the auto industry. Just like they are happy to buy a $500,000 house on a McDonald's salary and open their new credit card like it's a Christmas present. . Never mind where the money comes from.

Maybe there should be a stiffer tariff on imports.
We should all pray that China doesn't start making cars or the entire discussion will be a moot point AND we will still owe China for the billions we're flushing away. Yes, every one of those dollars will be borrowed from China.

We sent the majority of manufacturing to China. What did all those workers get? They got their pink slips.

I had to skim through the last bit bc I couldn't take it anymore... I'm so aggravated!
1: When we purchased our first house in the 1980"s, we didn't have 20% to put down and had to get PMI (Private Mortgage Insurance) which ran about $150/mo.
What happened to PMI?!?!? The insurance companies should have been held accountable.

We thought we could afford $110-$140k. According to the bank, we could easily afford a $240k mortgage. Surprisingly enough, we purchased a $120k house! I won't even bother to mention how much the value went down in the late 80's housing crash. The phrase "tough shit" comes to mind.
but now I'm ranting....
2-I seem to remember something about Pittsburgh being a Steel town...it seems to be doing great. Maybe we can retro-bailout the entire rust belt, just to be FAIR.
How about the numerous towns that depended on the railroad system? The waterways, etc.etc.etc. Why did this country ever build interstate highways? Maybe we should have passed a law banning automobiles altogether.
The infrastructure in this country is deplorable. Why not take the money and put it toward that? I'd even be willing to give displaced auto workers first dibs.

Brian Williams (I think) put it best.

How do you explain to a waitress making $12./hour, that we should spend BILLIONS (remember it's her money, too) so that the autoworkers making 4x that can keep their job?

The only way the unions will renegotiate is through bankruptcy.

Even her (Aunt Kathryn) slippers had heels. Do remember when I went to get her (low-heeled, practical, non-skid, all of the things she hates, can't wear heels in a nursing home, no leather soles allowed) shoes? Easy-breezy.. I'll go into her closet, take out a favorite pair, get the size and brand. Poof, perfect size and fit..... Yea, No! Ferragamo doesn't make those. I still miss her, and think of her often.
