- I was a self-supporting, tax-paying, & contributing member of society until age 38; by 40 I was destitute and went to DSHS for help. In 2003 I needed to leave my marriage of 7 1/2 years; my life was later threatened over a joint stock portfolio (i.e. - half of $9,000), among other actions that would have been considered crimes if I had Civil Marriage. Loss of my my life's work led to an inability to work, which led to loss of income, selling all possessions, and then bankruptcy and homelessness. I now blog to avoid the absolute, total insanity I feel as I wait for other people to vote on my civil right to marry the person I love.
