Highbrow? Why do they call it that? I would call it 'the being
beneath the brow'., or the finely tuned senses of the natural human heart,
or the being before being. 'Music hath power to soothe the savage breast' ;
'It is not in the stars to hold our destiny but in ourselves'. Today, our
music, if you want to call it that, jades and inflames us. All epinephrine
all the time. You can't make a symphony out of steroids gone wild. Hey,
look at it this way: there is a real opportunity here right now if you
invest in home gym equipment.

Re: At least six dead in mass shooting at gym in Pittsburgh

Thanks for your response. It is odd about the prediction, but then I was at
Point Reyes camping the night the trail side killer struck, was awakened out
of my tent for an extremely tense hour, leaving my candle lantern on, and
peered at it's light through the dark safety of the bushes. Then it wasn't
until morning when I was outside the park that I saw the helicopters lifting
the bodies out. So you see, I tend to have a dark view of things just
generally. Seneca said that it is in the uttermost desperation that wisdom
is born. I would prefer to be called unwise.

Re: At least six dead in mass shooting at gym in Pittsburgh

I used to go hiking in the wilderness, until a gunman pinned me down there, on a trail, for awhile.
so i joined a gym, LA Fitness as a matter of fact, where I have been exercising safely so far ever since.
I said to a friend a few months ago that its only a matter of time, probably, before a gunman attacks there too, then where will I go? It's just not very safe, being born, I guess, and probably never was or will be. I think at moments like this of Paul Tillich's book 'The Courage to Be'. We are just so much vulnerable protoplasm, sticking out in space, and just the decision to live is a constant act of courage.
