The advertisement for the game (look at Anime News Network's ads and consider that Nintendo is pushing it) well disguised your laziness in the localisation from the fact that it lacks a whole episode from the original Japanese game (an episode is half of the story here, not a downloadable portion you can find on a downloadable store) to the name being typed incorrectly on the spine.

Re: Unlimited Cruise or Unlimlited Cruise? It is likely to have a small consumer base, even if it isn't likely to have the same expected sales.

I just hope it doesn't embarrass Spike anymore, Ultimate Tenkaichi was supposed to be their final DBZ game and it received more criticism than even Raging Blast 2. Coming back a year later with an odd Kinect idea despite the acclaim other concepts (that they even made at a point) received seems like they are gluttons for punishment.

My DBZ game of the generation is Dragon Ball Kai Ultimate Butoden, a solid DS fighter with a great character cast, promising ideas and great cinematics. Poor presented arguments is the reason why sequels which disappointed or missed the mark like Ninja Gaiden 3, Mass Effect 3 or Ultimate Tenkaichi had demand in the first place.

The first thing you address should be the gameplay flaws in comparison to prior games. In this case, how taunting is gone, how two buttons are doing the same dodge and lock on is now automatic only. Heavy language use is something to note as well, in No More Heroes (Suda 51, top ten assassin story with otaku lead), it had it's place from the beginning. You can go on from there and mention that Tameen and Capcom are being disrespect to the fanbase as well.

Re: New DmC Devil May Cry Footage From E3 With Director’s Commentary

Actually, Dante isn't supposed to smoke at all if you go and look at the foundation that the series creator set up for him.

"Series' creator Hideki Kamiya has said that the titular character from the manga series Cobra by Buichi Terasawa
served as the basis for Dante's personality. I want my Pokemon to have casinos! Both of them basically have a new team and new fundamentals for the gameplay and story which contridict prior titles. I've noticed publishers say that crossovers like Tatsunoko vs Capcom (which got worldwide thankfully) are often out of question as they would have to contact the licensor in North America and Canada for an anime who could be different. And in the case of going to PAL Land, Europe could have one for every country not to mention Australia.

Music is also an issue, I've seen many games or shows drop the original OST or intro as they obviously couldn't pay enough.

I'm willing to hear how keeping resources such as voice clips which you presumably pay for by line and not to be able to have the songs play in the game by region.

Re: New DmC Devil May Cry Footage From E3 With Director’s Commentary

I agree that this game seems to be a on a different level to NG3, though I see the first games of a franchise or style as core to judging whether a new title is respectable.

NG3 earned hatred for trying to push in a guilt driven plotline into games which even from the NES and Xbox sent you killing without a care in the world as everything is trying to kill you. It also took weaponry from the get go (free DLC is still bullshit), made gameplay easy and added a special technique which BOTH make you contridict the direction of the story and make it easier.

To someone who first played it or liked hack and slash games with crazy storylines (let's say Dynasty Warriors), they might have liked it. I enjoyed Apollo Justice for my first AA game as someone who heard of the Objection fad from a distance and knew only that Phoenix Wright was a lawyer. Look at it after the prior games and despite it being a good project, it throws Phoenix Wright out of character, throws away the entire cast who may have appeared in the three original games or just in two of them and uses the DS features worse and less than the DS exclusive case in the first GBA port. It isn't very good for an Ace Attorney game even if it is a very good visual novel.

As an independent project from Devil May Cry, it would be like "ANOTHER NEW IP FROM THESE GUYS! AWESOME COMBO SYSTEM! LOVE THE SETTING! SUPPORT THIS ONE GUYS WE WANT THEM TO HAVE A SEQUEL UNLIKE HEAVENLY SWORD!" instead of like "GET TAMEEN OUT OF MY DEVIL MAY CRY! WORKS NOTHING LIKE THE ORIGINAL NEEDS TAUNTS 60FPS LOCK ON WHITE HAIR RAEG! WAIT HALF ANGEL!?".

I'm not convinced that it needed to be a reboot on that note, or at least one which chooses to abandon the original franchise in the ways it has. Good sales so far, an established style for four games with a single voice actor for 2 (plus Marvel vs Capcom 3) for Dante then this...

tl;dr

Being a good game isn't good enough. It needs to be good within the franchise to satisfy the original audience.
