It was the 'pounds' that got me thinking of something like the cost difference between a pound of truffle oil vs a pound of Idaho spuds so weight might not be the best thing to measure by.

Actually there is great deal of value/profit to be gained in the restaurant business by not only eliminating waste but also by re-purposing products. Using last night's left over mash potatoes as a base for today's soup or spinach potato cake special, for instance.

Re: Sitting In the Stat Seat

As a former restaurant cook. I came here from a Buzz link btw. Sorry to say I don't get the signal to noise ratio I want from Facebook yet, though I did hear about my aunt's vacation just fine. Also thanks for bringing your Twitter into Buzz, I no longer lose your tweets in my Twitter stream.

Re: http://alanajoy.tumblr.com/post/782071770

What an amazing artist and very down to earth also. I met her twice. Once in a coffee shop she saddled up to the counter where I was sitting with a friend and said to us. "Hi. I'm Tori." In my head I said "No shit!" but all that came out was "Hi, I'm Jesse.".. She's shorter than I thought she would be but her eyes are more beautifully exotic.

Re: Google Me This, Google Me That. Whatever Google Me offers, if it even exists, it's going to have to be sizzle and pop to pry my luddite aunts and uncles off of facebook. If it isn't I'm afraid Google will be perceived as the tech-giant that cried social wolf. Though the early adopters have taken to Buzz and even Wave, 'regular' people saw those product launches as totally over hyped. I would love to see them pull it off.

Re: Making An Assumption Is Making A Mistake (And Why Influencers Can Sometimes Be Real Jerks)

I think you're taking the offending article in the wrong context. I think it's super cool how users have already crystallized into groups and are adding to the education of their peers as well as helping google to streamline wave itself.

As things stand now I estimate gwave to have less than a tenth of the functionality it will have in a years time. Apps are in their infancy and there's so much more Google plans to improve already.

Why are you so quick to smack down something that hasn't even been released to the public yet? Sure there may be some tools that do some of the jobs that gwave does but are they free? Do they all work together in the same UI?

I'm quite surprised at the stance you've taken particularly as you are considered one of the poster boys for early adoption. I've followed your lead more than once. But, respectfully, I just think your wrong this time.

Have you seen some of the apps and bots? Some of those things are wicked sweet. They're just tinker toys compared to what's coming. This is truly just the very tippy tippy top of the iceberg.
IMHO

Re: Crush It – A Video Book Review

I hear you loud and clear! How did Lucas manage to hire such AWESOME actors back in the day and you can't watch the 'new' movies without wincing.

BTW I hope this fanboy convo doesn't take away from Gary's book. It truly is special and Gary's well worth the attention I subscribe to his personal blog. I've never been a huge fan of winelibrary but his keynotes, business videos are must see web TV. I only offer one caveat he is coming from a multi-million $$$ business and is not starting 'from scratch' w/ only hustle although he does work hard. Besides that you can't help yourself but believe in his principles.

Re: Crush It – A Video Book Review

Hey Chris I love you bro but 'Star Wars' did actually start in the middle of the series.

Never thought my first comment on your blog would be so dorky but hey if it got me off the bench :)

Re: Gary Vaynerchuk - Talking to publishers and Indie book stores

I've hit these same walls myself. The original reason I joined friendfeed was as a place to store my tweets for safe keeping (of course I've since seen the unique value of friendfeed). Come on Twitter! Get on it!

Re: While Twitter Jumps The Shark The Cool Kids Jump To FriendFeed

They only keep 160 pages of updates so if you don't update your account very much it could still have all of your tweets.
