If you look carefully at the tag - it clearly says the dates that the product is on sale. It is usually a month or months of time that the sale price is good. I used to never look at that except occasionally for the unit price when comparing quantity versus cost, but now I check if I am deciding whether to buy something now or wait until next time. This is very handy if you have a coupon. If both the sale price and coupon are good next shopping trip, it can be postponed and help you stay on your budget for that trip. Maybe everyone already did this, but until my husband told me, I've missed it. :)

Re: Do You UPromise?

I opened my Upromise account in 2006. I have added mine and my in-laws' Kroger and CVS cards to it. I have never gotten the Upromise credit card. I have registered my credit card that I already had to it for purchases. When I buy online with Eddie Bauer, Land's End, LL Bean, FTD flowers - I get a percentage back. The restaurant portion is okay - that's where I would like to see more participants. There are tons of online merchants and they double their percentage to Upromise throughout the year for holidays and specials. I have almost $150. I haven't read anythign before about an annual fee for the 529 being accessed. I will read into that. I haven't spent one penny to "earn" this free money, so it's taught me which companies and merchants want to offer more to their customers. I've gotten $6 per flower order ($40 flowers) from FTD at Mother's day, so I'm happy to give them my business for a kickback that I can use. I'm not looking to spend this for myself, but hoping one day to have a thousand or so extra to go towards my future child's education. I like the program. If you can get anyone else to add to your grocery store customer cards, you'll get more money. Many of my dollars added up from buying the same things I always get - Eggland's Best Eggs, Domino Sugar, etc.
