While my Z5 was speedy before it was broken, XZ1 feels really smooth. The battery life, despite equipped with a smaller battery, feels much better on XZ1 too. While I couldn't get impressive SOT because I have my smartband paired to the phone all day, but it can easily last through a day.

I like the build quality of the phone, which is good as always (compared to my old Z5, and my mother's Z2). Also I particularly like that this sports a Aluminum body so I don't worry about it as much (compared to the glass back of Z5). The screen also looks really nice, indoor or outdoor.

The biggest let down would have to be the camera, it is still not giving clean enough shots indoor or in low light. While people are complaining the distortion, I am fine with it because it could be really hard to fix it with such a wide angle lens.

There's one thing I miss from the phone, which is the tap-to-wake feature. I sent in support request, and got a canned response in return. Not sure if it would be re-introduced in the future, but we shall see.

The reason I bought this instead of lower priced XZs or other phone is the support for USB-Power Delivery standard. It works well, and the battery care system works with that too.

Re: Sony adds Android 8.0 Oreo to Open Devices program

works fine so far for me, have you tried resetting the phone? Sony uses possibly the largest sensor in their phone 1/2.3 (vs 1/3.6 in some others, which is significantly smaller). Also larger sensor requires bigger space for the lens (Nokia phones used to have much bigger sensors in the Pure Views, and look at those camera bump), and the fact that Sony managed to squeeze everything in given the thickness is quite impressing. The only complaint I have is Sony could have stuff in a bigger battery to flatten the bump (presumably for the additional memory chip layer for the camera sensor, for 960fps slo-mo) by increasing the thickness by a little bit.

I like the way they stick with their own unique design (and good enough build quality), so other people knows clearly I am using an Xperia. It really does look different compared to others.

Re: Sony settles on claim that Xperia devices “deceptively advertised as waterproof” – US owners invited to claim refund

sending it back to the authorized service centre to ensure water-resistance is the point, isn't it lol

Re: Are Laptops & PCs Preloaded with Ubuntu Budgie on the Way?

FreeDOS? http://www.freedos.org/

Re: Sony settles on claim that Xperia devices “deceptively advertised as waterproof” – US owners invited to claim refund

Not so fortunate for me, also from Malaysia. I brought my Z5 to a theme park the second time recently (the first was a year ago), and water went into the device. I suppose the rubber at the SIM card tray degraded so lost the water resistance thing.

I was well expected to pay for parts replacement, despite being on an "official"-ish extended warranty (got my phone from the official sony centre). However the cost of repairing it exceeds the current price, so I declined. The ridiculous part is that despite being in the warranty period, I was charged for the inspection. I mean, what is the point of offering extended warranty if you are going to charge for everything anyway?

Re: New update (32.3.A.2.33) hits Xperia Z5 series, Z4 Tablet and Z3 Plus with March 2017 security patch

not sure if this is similar to smart cleaner, but after nougat most of my running apps got closed automatically by the OS after a period of inactivity anyway

Re: Xperia Nougat Beta starts rolling, see the first screens

xz has different stamina mode?
