Working long hours, usually two jobs doesnt lend to participation in local government. Combine that with maintaining a family, house, finances, etc. I think working parents, homeowners can get a pass. Not everyone is a retired bloviating know it all ; )

Such lack of compassion for your fellow residents is disturbing. Not everyone has the time to follow local government and it's procedures. Nor do they really read the local rags that are out there. They are too busy working two or more jobs to make ends meet in this economy and are not retired like yourself, who can devout more time to it. You should go back to your blog on the patch and show support instead of condemnation.

Companies pay unemployment taxes, not the general public. Get your facts straight. I seriously doubt that you would find a decent job, one that would help you pay a mortage, within a week, there are not too many of them. Again get your facts straight. Guess what I dont want to foot the bill for the town employees too! They dont take care of me everyday and I pay more taxes than you do!

Are you a member of SOS by chance? You mimic their rhetoric very well. Problem with Salem, is we have "put into it" but really dont get anything back. Also, you have a lot of nerve telling someone to move if they are having a financial hardship. That is the vestige of a moron. All you care about is renovating the elementary schools and raises for teachers who are mediocre.

It will create thousands of low paying, dead end jobs, the type where you couldnt pay your rent with your salary type of jobs. The construction jobs will go to the unions, enough on that subject. This golden opportunity is a farce.

Atlantic City was bad before the casino's came, the casino's just made that city worse. Do you live in Salem, do you own property in Salem that could be devalued if a casino comes to town? Be honest, not too many families will want to move to a town that has a casino, especially a small town like Salem.
