Agreed. My only nit is that she didn't seem to have a strong emotional arc, not on the level of Batman or Cyborg. The Snyder Cut still had Diana in hiding since WW1, so I was hoping for a bit more, but her action scenes and the way she was treated as a character was top notch.

I am a bit surprised that Disney+ hasn't done a retrospective on a few of the characters for the fans who don't know Ahsoka or never heard of Tython. However, as one who did watch all of the Clone Wars, the second season is so much better than the first and that is very high praise.

Rebecca Ferguson is typically very good at shutting down sexist talk and she does it quickly and with grace. That said, during this particular junket, it was just this one guy who acted like an ass with her. The
only other time she acted annoyed was when an interviewer asked her about the representation of powerful women in Doctor Sleep. Her response was, “… sometimes a film is just a film.” Note this is the same actress who is overjoyed that the Bene Gesserit will be updated for our times in the Dune remake.

Good interview. Big fan of Flanagan's work. I'm so glad you touched on Flanagan's ability to mix intimacy with genuine scares and horror. His work often reminds me of films like The Haunting (1963, Robert Wise), The Innocents (1961, Jack Clayton), and Night of the Demon (1957, Jacques Tourneur). The fear is often soft-spoken and have as much to do with the psychology of the characters than the ghosts or whatever.

Also, I have to call out Rebecca Ferguson in delivering the best female villain in years. For me, her humanity as Rose made her both compelling and vile.

Well, female Shepard was created before devs gave a damn about female characters, so yeah, she wasn't going to look as good as her counterpart who was based on some model, but things have changed. My guess is, the default characters from Far Cry 5 will look as good from previous games, but you will have an option to create your own this time.

I have never played a game that included character customization that did not also include a premade character. In fact, most allow you to choose from a selection of preset ready-to-go characters. The best of both worlds.

Odd title for the article as it doesn't sound that much different from DAI. In fact it sounds almost the same. My biggest concern is the variety of weapons and armor. DAI had lot of combinations when it came to stats, but only a handful of different weapon and armor types.

I understood the ending. Shepard becomes the catalyst in the end. She is the butterfly in chaos theory. That one final ingredient that made everything work. That i liked. What I didn't like was the reason for the Reapers, the twist. It felt shoehorned and made little to no sense. Leviathan goes to great lengths to explain what happens, but just makes it worse. But the worst part about the end was that it was dull as dishwater. If you go the IT route then you probably come out w/ a better story, but I don't believe IT was ever intended. The EC helps, but adds more plot holes. Honestly, it didn't bother me that Shepard dies, but she deserved to die in a better ending.

Underestimating the fans' attachment to Shepard and the characters is pretty much saying you don't understand why your game is successful. As for the ending, there is an interesting idea in there somewhere especially in Shepard having no way to really "win". The problem was we didn't get to say goodbye (unless you count the whole game as goodbye). Breaking Bad's final did that, we got to say goodbye to Walt and the people he destroyed. Shepard, preEC, there was nothing. The ending minutes does bring in some interesting ideas, but they get lost in the clusterfuck that was the "the twist ending."

The movie strives for substance and there are moments of greatness in it, but the bombastic effects, which are admittedly good, plus the style of the film which gives it the feel of a luxury car commercial, overpower
what is there. The old saying is true, less is sometimes more. Snyder had a great cast and a great story, he didn't need to paint the movie w/ Michael Bay brush strokes. Your opinion is yours and that's cool, but we'll have to agree to disagree.

There's a great movie in MoS struggling to get out, but they may have taken the name a little too close to heart as there is little in the way of soul or character in this film, just hard edged style over what could have been amazing substance.

The Avengers, Dark Knight Rises, Moonrise Kingdom, Cloud Atlas, Skyfall, Django Unchained and The Hobbit were among my favorites. The Hobbit was a tad slow for me in the beginning (could have shaved off 10 minutes overall but still not as bloated as some of Jackson's stuff like King Kong). Over all, I loved it. By contrast, Dark Knight Rises needed much more time and probably should have been two movies. I still liked the themes enough to enjoy it. Cloud Atlas was amazing in its complexity and yet retained a fairly straight forward narrative. My biggest quibble was w/ Tom Hanks. He's one of these actors who if he does not have the right director can overdo it as he did in this film. I'd be hard pressed to pick a favorite, but it would come down to The Avengers and Moonrise Kingdom.
