The two schools of Human Development can, and do, live quite harmoniously in many of us. To insist, however, that these two school of thought should even attempt to do each other's job, is the height of ridiculousness and hubris.

Re: When Did We All Get So Important?

Aye yup... there is a an all too common *lack* of common sense! I really wouldn't mind some of them removing themselves from my specie's Gene Pool (since they slimed out of the shallow end anyway), but it's the collateral damage that I despise!
The old 10-2 Hands on the Steering Wheel is still a really good option! No, good! But the Billiards Model may have the final answer here. Can anyone tell us where this Speedy Gonzales of a star has been in the past, say a few million , or billion light years ago? Not aliens, not Mayans 2012 Doomsayers, not anything supernatural. Just people who love art, and have a sense of humour! Duh.

Re: The Guardian Tackles the Moon Landing Hoax… Badly

Poor old addled Granma think the Moon Landings were faked, and Big Time Wrestling is real?! You could say that I cut my teeth on the Mercury models that I glued together as a child, then on to Gemini and Apollo. NASA and I were both born in the same year, and when I was growing up, there was never any kind of doubt about the Space Program. It was as real the apple tree in your front yard. But now enter the Conspirators, and others of that ilk, that feel the louder they scream, the "righter" they are. Amazing how they can take a tiny scrap of supposed information, and twist it into some sort of grand, evil, vast conspiracy? I prefer to use Occam's Razor, and point out the obvious. Something about arguing with a fool only makes two fools arguing?

Re: Sneak Attack Science

Hehehe... I remember my "daze" as a college student all too well? Or do I? I do seem to have a lot of memories whilst I was under the influence (of whatever) and picked up all sorts of stray, random factoids that have stayed with me. But those boring lectures where the prof would blather on, as if by burying us under a mountain of "knowledge" just doesn't rise up, does it?
I hope Guerilla Science carries on, and brings some reality to the party! :)

Re: Bloggers Must Fill the Public-Science Gap

*sigh* The American Educational system used to be one of the best on this planet! Now, what we teach to our bright, impressionable minds is dictated by religio-pseudo-science that has no bearing on facts, nor the Scientific Method, nor history. I can only *hope* that Science Blogging can help fill in the gaps, but those gaps are deliberately created by prejudiced, ignorant perversions of those in standing. And continued along the ladders of so called success, to the point of absurdity as fact.

Re: Crop Circles Do Not Predict Solar Storm on July 7th…

Oh my. Here it is the 7th of July... and we're all still here. What a disappointment for those Doomsayers. Now they can't tie together Crop Circles into CME's and 2012. We currently do have the technology to go to Mars, but we don't have the political consensus to do so. The "We shouldn't waste our money in Space" crowd fails to see all the *many* benefits that we enjoy on Earth, as a direct result of the effort to explore Space. Just about every area has experienced some kind of technological improvement, that has also improved their bottom line.
One day, hopefully not too far in the future, we will, once again, start to migrate, to other planets and moons in our Solar system. It's what we do, it's who we are.
