I felt the Monos seemed more premium and better constructed. When I looked at Away, the materials felt pretty cheap. Lower end than the suitcase I had and purchased for $60 or so at Ross. That suitcase died after a decade or so and I replaced it with Monos’s hybrid carryon.

I have the hybrid Monos carryon. So far so good, but I have used for one plane trip and a couple of car trips so far.

I think it bags are over because we no longer have “mass culture.” Everything is pretty specific.

In the 80s and 90s there were tv shows and entertainment events you could be sure that mostly everyone had taken part in. Everyone watched Jurassic Park, Pretty Woman, Titanic, Friends, the Super Bowl, the Grammys. Everyone knew the new Michael Jackson or Mariah Carey song. It was hard to escape the pop culture moments.

Now there are no such moments. A tv show does well if it gets 20% of audience share. In the 90s the top show would have 50% or more of the audience.

I don’t see it bags coming back because nothing holds such a big share of attention.

I had a Miranda. It was such a well made bag. And MK bags always had stellar organization inside. I really liked my Hamilton and Selma bags. They were comfy and practical.

Boba spots have been a thing in Asian (and student) areas for decades. In the mid-90s were were hinting for boba at Cal. Seems like it isn't going anywhere. With the combo of more asian people and Gen-Z growing up on K-pop, it is mainstream in urban areas.

I love the idea of this bag, and it is one that I have been coveting for a while. But the more I think about it, the more I realize it would annoy me in practice. I do not like more than like 2 compartments. There are a lot of pockets and compartments. The structure doesn't lend itself to putting that much stuff in there without a lot of purse Tetris. So it makes it the sort of bag I wouldn't want to use day to day. And at that price it needs to be a daily driver. I'd end up being annoyed because I wouldn't be able to fit oddly sized things I carry often (reusable bags, not optimized sizes of hand lotion......)

I live in Oakland, CA and used to work in SF. It is interesting to see how bags have shifted as more luxury apartments have popped up in downtown Oakland.

Neverfulls have beeb pretty popular for a while, but they are being replaced by Goyard St. Louis. In days of old it was a rarity to see anything Hermes in either place, where I traveled. I would always denote an H sighting in the wild in Oakland. Typically at Whole Foods or one of the other fancy groceries.

In the past couple of years I have seen way more younger people with various Gucci, YSL, and Chanel WOCs in Oakland. And various mostly monogram LV. This would have been unheard of a decade ago - because visible displays of wealth were pretty rare. People were more practical, and even standard midrange bags like Coach, D&B, and MK weren't super common - unless it was a vintage one on a hipster. SF is fairly similar, but you see more Chanel flaps on people of various ages. I haven't seen a Celine bag in Oakland yet, but they are fairly popular in SF. Over east of me in Walnut Creek, there are more bag spotting as this has become with center of designer shopping east of SF, with a Neiman Marcus and a Nordstrom with mostly premier bags.

What you don't get here are the fashion forward bags. Mostly the old stand bys, and things that work with more casual looks.

Same the shoes are great! These prints are not my print at all, I like florals that are less densely floraled. But it seems like these bags are perfect for the cottagecore moment we are in now.

At this point most "all-American" brands do not produce anything in the USA. NAFTA, globalization, and our own (political) decision making decided that manufacturing was unimportant to our economy. Coach isn't the poster child for this.

I have a few pouches, I haven't splurged on any. The one that I have that gets the most use is a Marc Jacobs for Target sparkly rose gold pouch that is so old. I remember wanting it when the collection launched and couldn't justify the splurge. It ended up going on clearance and I got it for like $20. It is a little bit distressed now, but honestly still looks pretty good.

The bags are not me, but I think they are really fun! I love J. Lo and I think she is a really representing the American dream. She worked really hard to get to where she is and hasn't given up on her roots. Coach has decided to discard "stuffiness" as part of their brand, and is aiming to represent the younger, less white, generation - who is more diverse, more influenced by streetwear and is more "free-form" than Coach has historically been known for. This collabo represents that really well.

I am a plain bag sort of person, but the clothing would be a really fun addition in my wardrobe. I think it is hard to translate conventional art into handbags - whether it is street art or fine art. I think the easiest art to translate is really sculpture - since it is also 3D.

I only want to work remotely 1-2 days a week max. My last company had the option to do that, and I only took advantage once a month or so. I don't like working at home and vastly prefer to work in the office.

Society benefits more when a bus full of passengers shaves 20 minutes off their trip and has more time for shopping - when the bus trip is efficient. Why should we prioritize one car with best case 5 people, over a bus full of 60 people?
