I didn't love this episode, but I don't get why so many people have such a negative reaction to it. At least you attempt to be level-headed about it.

"...pointless scene with a mechanic..."? Okay... She needs to get the cuffs off, and she finds Claire's picture, baby stuff, and Orca whale. This is KEY. This triggers something in her subconscious that draws her to Claire. This subconscious draw is what prompts Claire to get in the cab, invite Kate to go to the porch with her later, etc.

If you're going to recap this show, at least pay attention to the important details that drive our characters, and not dismiss it as "pointless". This show has always been about the characters, AS WELL AS the mythology stuff. This was a good character-centric installment that harks back to Season 1, and also gave our brains a rest after the mind-blowing premiere.

I have a feeling people will appreciate it more when re-watching the season, but for now people need to be more patient. We will get answers, folks, but the writers need to lay the emotional and logistical "pipes" first. The season has an arc, just like every season of LOST.

P.S. Anyone calling this episode "filler" is not a LOST fan.

I think we both want the same thing: a satisfying conclusion to the show.

I'm inclined to agree with #2.

We saw Jacob "touch" many of the Losties prior to the flight 815 crash, so that make me think it wasn't chance that 815 made it to the island.

It would also make sense if Hawking is conning the O6 when she says that all conditions have to be identical. We've seen her send her son to the island to be killed, so anything is possible.

I'm very excited to see how this plays out.

Don't get me wrong, Jack, I want answers.

I'm not "mad" at people for wanting answers, I said that I'm sick of people wanting EVERY question answered. Darlton has said specifically that every question won't get answered, so why set yourself up for disappointment?

I understand that this post wasn't necessarily saying that they need to see all this answered, but I have seen so many posts on various sites where people are practically demanding answers to everything. That's mainly what I'm commenting on.

My point is that it would ruin MY experience if I were sitting there with a checklist of mysteries that I want answered. I would be focused too much on what wasn't addressed, as opposed to what's happening on the show.

That said, I'll be pissed if major mysteries aren't answered. That's what LOST has been about. I just think a lot of people are setting themselves up to hate Season 6, and that's unfortunate.

Now, once the show is over, I would have a field-day with this list.

Keep in mind that though they had to recreate the original conditions of flight 815, Ajira 316 was also passing through a "window" that Hawking calculated.

That said, I would like an explanation. However, it's not a deal-breaker for me if it isn't fully explained. Perhaps another revelation will shed light on this.

I'm sick of so many people who are obsessed with every question being answered. If I were to watch this season waiting to check answers off that list, I would go crazy.

Just watch and enjoy the LAST season, people. Sheesh!

I agree that AVATAR has that "x factor". Despite the little nit-picks (which there are only a few), I'm addicted to the ride it takes you on. It's the ultimate escapist film, and that's why I love it so much.

I'm going to go out on a limb and give my reaction to the Golden Globe wins.

First of all, I'm happy for AVATAR and everyone involved, this is BIG. James Cameron winning Best Director was absolutely deserved.

I have to say, however, that I'm surprised it won for Best Picture: Drama. I loved AVATAR (I saw it three times after all), but I didn't expect it to take the big win. Now, I haven't seen any of the other films nominated, but AVATAR just doesn't scream "Best Picture" to me (at least from an awards standpoint). I love it for what it is: a fun pulp sci-fi-action fantasy, but Best Picture...? I guess I'll have to see the other nominated films.

Before you jump on my case, remember that I've been a supporter for a long time. I'm not trying to insult the film. Hell, it may end up being my favorite film of the year. I guess I'm just worried that there will be an even bigger backlash, and that the people who have yet to see the film (yes, there are many people I know who haven't), will have even more unrealistic expectations.

AVATAR deserves all of the acclaim that it gets, I'm just not sure that it's the "best picture" of 2009. Time will tell on that one.

Just to reiterate: I say this as a HUGE fan of the film. I'm just being honest.

My guess is that China likes the revenue garnered from AVATAR 3D screenings, but also wants to show their domestic "blockbuster".

'Confucius' starring Chow Yun-Fat in China is roughly the equivalent of a huge Tom Hanks film in the US (when he was in his prime).

I imagine the US would do the same to a foreign film if the situation were reversed.

A lot of people are jumping to conclusions.

If you read only what Damon Lindelof said (not what Digital Spy embellished), then he did not say that nothing surrounding the island's mythology will be answered.

He simply said that "in terms of the island itself, there will be questions left unanswered after the show ends." That is NOT saying that we're not getting answers about the island's mythology, it's saying we won't get answers to every question that the fans have about the island. Take the numbers: he said they are going to "explain significantly more about the numbers", but still leave some mystery. There's nothing wrong with that. I'm sure they will explain the weird things happening on the island, but not exactly why the island happens to be housing those weird things. Some things should be left a mystery, that's always been the beauty of LOST.

I will be the first person to be pissed if they don't answer critical mysteries, but I'll watch Season 6 and judge for myself with no preconceptions. Too many people are getting worked up by an article designed specifically to work up LOST fans.

I'm not falling for it.

Honestly, I would hope that 3D technology improves with each new film. I liked the 3D in AVATAR, but I also see where it could stand to be better (especially in the 2D scenes).

So Jim, did you get confirmation that future Earth scenes will be in the extended cut? I can't wait to see AVATAR on blu-ray!

Now I wish I had paid more attention. :-)

The lenses looked more gray/dark colored than anything, but I honestly don't remember for sure. I went to other booths that used the electronic shutter glasses, but this was different. The Sensio projector demo may have used shutter glasses, but not the regular flat panel demos.

Let me be clear: not all of their glasses were this way, but the one's they were handing out for the flat panels were made of cardboard and had the thin plastic lenses. Very similar to the anaglyph glasses of old. The 3D was very good with them, that's what surprised me. The glasses for the projector was more like the ones used in theaters as of late.

What's interesting is that the glasses Sensio had for the flat panels looked like anaglyph (without the red and blue color), but the 3D was really good. They were displaying AVATAR: The Game and various 3D content (football, nature, etc.).

Their projector system had different glasses, but the 3D wasn't as good (bad flutter issues).

I just got back from CES. Whew! Too many booths for me to visit, but I was able to see a lot.

I was there primarily for Home Theater, so I wasn't able to dive into every 3D booth I came across.

Here are some thoughts on what I saw:

-Projected 3D is far inferior to the 3D I saw on flat panels (due to flutter issues).
-Sensio had some of the best looking 3D, and I haven't heard it mentioned here (maybe I missed it?).
-3D on Plasma looks better to me than on LED/LCD (smoother 3D, not nearly as much flutter).

Like I said, I wasn't able to dig too deep into the 3D. I'm not sure what needs to be done to help with projected 3D, but it needs work.

Those are my layman observations. :-)

Don't do it. Nothing can substitute the experience of watching LOST in it's entirety.

If she finishes late, she can catch up with Season 6 online or on iTunes.
