Yes I agree, i would say this also applies to those who just can not leave their Blackberry or other such devices alone they have to continually check. It does not make them any more productive just stressed that someone knows a little more than you. I say these are tools and should be used as such. I do i find it is a blessed relief to turn off at the weekend and just chill. Besides i doubt that folk get paid for a seven day week their customers certainly take down time. If nothing else i shall live longer. do not be the sad person that has to check your e-mail before you get to the terminal.

To Those of Us Born 1930 - 1979
• TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED THE 1930’s, 40's, 50's, 60’s and 70's!!
• First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant.
• They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can and didn't get tested for diabetes.
• Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-base paints.
• We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, locks on doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had baseball caps not helmets on our heads.
• As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, no booster seats, no seat belts, no air bags, bald tires and sometimes no brakes.
• Riding in the back of a pick- up truck on a warm day was always a special treat.
• We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle.
• We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and no one actually died from this.
• We ate cupcakes made with Lard, white bread, real butter and bacon. We drank FLAV-OR- AID made with real white sugar. And, we weren't overweight. WHY?
• Because we were always outside playing....that's why!
• We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on..
• No one was able to reach us all day. And, we were OKAY.
• We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride them down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem
• We did not have Play stations, Nintendo's and X-boxes. There were no video games, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD's, no surround-sound or CD's, no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet and no chat rooms.
• WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!
• We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents.
We would get spankings with wooden spoons, switches, ping pong paddles, or just a bare hand and no one would call child services to report abuse.
• We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.
• We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and, although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes.
• We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them.
• Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!!
• The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!
• These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever.
• The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas. What can kids today do besides push buttons.
• We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all.
• If YOU are one of them, CONGRATULATIONS!
• You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated so much of our lives for our own good.
• While you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave and lucky their parents were.
• Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it ?

20 minutes where were they you can get to the island from the sheriffs office with all lights red and staying within the speed limits in twenty minutes. That's service for you, Like you say once they get there all of our police are very professional in what they do but sacrificing service for money is not on. IF IT IS NOT BROKE DON'T FIX IT.

Why am i here well one of the reasons is that Mr tony Blair &Co managed to ruin the health care system in trying to put it back together they had to raise taxes. As i Was one of the slightly higher tax bracket people i ended up paying around 52% of the portion of earnings over the threshold in Taxes no deductions, This did not cover health care that is extra it is called national insurance it is earnings related so the more you earn the more you pay. Typically i paid $450 per month for health and welfare on top of my taxes. Believe me the system you have works you just have to manage the costs by reducing waste stop trying to rip off folk by tests they do not require put the patient first not the bank balance. and get rid of this attitude of suing just for the hell of it. One way would be to award costs and make the individual pay if they lost the case, this may discourage some ambulance chasing and stupid law suits. Believe me the president is playing Mr blairs playbook play by play, the sad thing i know what is coming next. HIGH TAXES. Oh by the way my son paid $7 for a gallon of gas yesterday, draw your own conclusions.

Also If the sheriff takes over does he not get the nice shiny office he desires i.e chief hurleys. You are right this is all about the money and not service to the people of Fernandina. Looks like we are still circling the wagons we had better keep a watch out for those pesky intruders.

Whilst reading the above proceedings, and really thinking that there must be some old boy network going on. I thought strange that the people of Amelia island have to "circle the wagons against attack from the sheriff" funny times we live in. I must say how ever that all the contact I have had with Fernandina city Police has always been a good experience, they are part of the community. Then I took a casual glance at the Snooze leader last week and read the article on this matter, it struck me as being not very well balanced, the so called professional journalist who wrote this article did not even give the Chief of our Police Chief Hurley the courtesy of an interview or comment, so the good people of the island were only given half of the argument. The question i have is there some kind of old boy conspiracy happening so that we are left with out a credible law enforcement, This would not transmit a good message to develop Amelia as a tourist destination. Does this mean The sheriff is trying to be Boss Hogg or Roscoe P Coltrain Ye ha ? I hope common sense prevails and the working relationship between our Police and the county can be re established. The local newspaper editor may do well to check if there is a balanced argument presented and not treat the good folk of Fernandina Like idiots.

I am all in favor of this measure provided it is designed with safety in mind. An not an ill executed way to raise taxes and to give some other power crazed mong with a speed gun and a chip on his shoulder and a book of tickets. If this is put in place and operated correctly it will do very nicely thank you.

These scams are well used in Europe, I had friend using an ATM in a gas station had sveral hundred pounds taken, they used a device to resd his card and a camera to get his Pin Number. The malware scam originated in Russia i believe.

The lake at the bottom (featured photo) of the editors yard is full of various varieties of fish, including Bass,chad ,shiners a whole bunch of turtles etc good entertainment. You should try fly fishing for Bass it is a lot of fun.

I always use a Non disclosure agreement before we even meet then get confidentiality agreements in place if we decide to proceed. This ensures that they Know at least you have a patent and they are being watched. It seems to work.

We go to the beach with family but heh, Once a beach bum always a beach bum, the walk with friends was very enjoyable but we picked the hottest day to do it he ho. looking forward to the next one.
