Nothing is better than Axton doing his song himself. I did go ahead and suffer through the Elvis version, but it is in a distant third place by itself compared to the original Three Dog Night version and especially to hearing Axton's own rendition.

You can't believe you've hit 19 years and it is hard for me (and I'm sure for many others) that I have been reading Powerline for 'almost' 19 years. Probably just short of 18, but I truly can't remember whether it was late 2002 or sometime in 2003 when I became a regular reader. You have been a link in my toolbar since then. I remember very very clearly reading the initial stories on Rathergate. As a military retiree that banged away on an IBM Selectric typewriter for years, I knew exactly what the argument was about in calling those fake documents. As an active duty National Guard Officer, I knew that the issues surrounding Bush's attendance record and the fact the he drilled with other units was a non-starter as an argument for special treatment. That story as no other cemented my interest and made me a lifetime Powerline reader. Thanks for the memories.

Sadly, I have learned that there are people in this nation, close to my age in fact, who do not know what burnouts are. And from the picture posted, don't know the difference between burnouts and donuts.

Mr. Hinderaker. Please watch the Motortrend Channel and specifically, the show Roadkill, Roadkill Garage, or The Donut Show. Now these people are skilled drivers but you will still see occasional glimpses of what can happen while attempting these maneuvers. Are they illegal? Yes. Most likely regardless of where you do them they are illegal. But believe me, young men have been doing them since the first time someone souped up a Model A, trimmed down the weight and realized they could create the smell of burning rubber on an asphalt road.

I'm truly sorry you had such a sheltered life that you now, at past the age of 65 I'm quite sure, don't know what these things are or how to do them, but find a young buck in the backwoods of Minnesota who has a hot car and have him demonstrate firsthand. You just might want to do a few yourself.

You know what is appalling in my view? That a Capitol Police officer killed an unarmed woman and to this date we have no closure on what really occurred. Unlike any other police shooting in this nation the last few years, we have no idea of the name of the person who pulled the trigger. We still do not know if this person was directed to fire, hold their fire, or if he (it was undoubtedly a man) was possibly the one actually in charge of the law enforcement officers at the time. We are supposedly told that he warned the group trying to gain entry at the time, but did he warn them that he would use deadly force?

But never mind all that. Just be aware that if this investigation is done by the slanted proposal presented and passed, you will never find any of those questions answered in the final analysis.

Trump had a way of sticking his foot in his mouth at times due to his long time penchant for talking off the cuff. He could do that in his previous environment but not while in the highest office in the land. If you could not see through that and understand his commitment to this country in all ways, then you are nothing but another two bit Never Trumper. Judge him by his record. Thank God we didn't have to find out what Romney's record would be. And this comes from someone that really didn't want Trump as the nominee. But I would vote for him again in a heartbeat.

Stefank is a wolf in sheep's clothing. She has a far far worse voting record for conservatism than does Cheney. I understand that Cheney's big mouth was hurting the caucus, but what makes them think Stefank will not do the same thing when it comes to the liberal ideas she feels she must support in order to continue getting elected. Pick someone with the leadership skills plus the desire to support a true conservative agenda.

If the vote to impeach Trump was defensible, then Cheney along with the writer failed to pay attention to the trial in the Senate. I am a proud Arkansan. As the chart points out, people in Arkansas own more guns per capita than any other state except Alaska (as you might imagine). I think it's great. We should have some type of state to state competition, especially in light of the current administration's stated goals. Let's see which state can hit 75% by, let's say, election day 2022. That could be a Republican 'get out the vote' campaign for next year.
