Great news: the author of TU/TUU has implemented a new “Deep Audit” view that goes beyond the “Missing Items”
view (that displayed post-installation items now missing from the system) to now also displays *changed* items, i.e. differences between the post-installation “After” column and the “Current” column (the “Current” column is a bit of a hidden feature that previously had to be explicitly enabled in other views). This new feature will neatly help answer “Why has this app stopped working?” questions (not completely, of course, since an app can stop working because of an incompatibility with some other system change, but it’s a great first troubleshooting step).

Re: New IPM utility Net2SwapFlag -- solves infamous KB2536487 issue

If your issue is specific to the EverNote download link, I'll be happy to post the utility elsewhere for download. They are displayed in the optional "Current" column (which follows the "Before" and "After" columns when enabled), another great feature I failed to mention. It can be used to eyeball differences between the post-setup "After" column and the current system contents -- this deep "audit" comparison might become automated at some point, supplementing the existing "missing items" view.

Re: Cucked By Zuck: Establishment Conservatives Rock Up For Pointless Meeting With Facebook

It amazes me that people who've had (mostly accidental) success with one venture are thereafter lionized as great visionaries whose every utterance has world shattering importance. It still leaves me wondering whether "gendering" is a neutral term or is deemed something to be avoided (which was the impression I got upon encountering the term). Let's just say I prefer gendering to neutering any day! :-)

Re: <i>Elementary</i>’s disappearing character marks “Miss Taken”

"Gendering"?? Pardon my ignorance, not being a graduate of some Women's Studies program or other, but is that a thing? ... and a bad one at that? Am I intuiting correctly that "we" now believe writers should stay away from ever assigning behaviors and storylines based on their characters' gender? I for one don't look forward to a world of fiction populated with sexless store mannequins, though I suppose that would jive nicely with the fashion (which I thoroughly reject) of calling all Thespians "actors", regardless of their (gulp) gender. I'll merely point out that one of the hooks of this particular incarnation of the Sherlock Holmes universe is the choice of a female Watson, and of a pretty one to boot. I hardly think the show would enjoy the same success if the choice had been Abe Vigoda. :-)

Interesting and provocative recap, though. I can only watch and hug my dogs. As for the doom-and-gloom "he won't make it to 15" interpretation of the 14th+1/2 birthday, I disagree: the dog still looks plenty healthy and playful to me, and the usual 1 dog year = 7 human years rule of thumb suggests that the owner is actually celebrating the dog's 100th birthday (in human terms) since the 14th birthday would only have amounted to 98 human years and thus been premature. That's my take, and I'm sticking to it: the whole thing's heartbreaking enough as it is! :-)
Thanks for the article, Tim. The problem with the policy to disable the creation of "auto retained and auto restored printers" is that the first kind ("auto retained") is *useful* and only the second kind ("auto restored") is the problem, and as far as I know nobody purposefully creates this second kind. It would be great if there were *separate* policies for disabling each of these two kinds of printers. ["auto retained" are the additional ICA client printers that a user "requests" using "ICA Client Printer Configuration", a great tool to provide users in combination with the policy to only auto-create the client default printer].
I wish I knew what piece of Citrix code (ICA client? print manager service? ...?) does (or did at some point) contain all these references to foreign usernames and printers and clients and gateways, etc. -- somebody got hacked somewhere along the line and is being quiet about it!
Jacques.

Re: Gett: The Trial Of Viviane Amsalem

HELP!
