Sleep on my SP4 i5 seems good now. Battery life I haven't tested. Can MS now fix the reproducible constant pen dropouts on the i5 the CSR said would be fixed in firmware?

Yes I am glad. I am hoping it also fixed speaker pop. Now fix the pen problem with dropouts the i5 SP4 has that the CSR told me would be resolved with firmware maybe by February.

Freezes on your SP4 might have been caused by the errors found by running SFC /scanow. Apparently updates are causing corrupted files. http://answers.microsoft.co...

My SP4 never had any freezes, it had other issues. I'm awaiting a replacement. If I had read about the corrupt files before I had sent it back I would have tried the fix in the forum linked above. The software is very buggy on the SP4. I'm sure it will eventually come right as long as they keep working on it but your average person will not appreciate all the problems.

The Dell XPS seems well regarded.

I'm personally hoping it fixes the flaky as heck wifi. I mean, the 1G ipod touch owns it over the 2G as far as wifi goes. (I have both)

Yeah, you know what? These guys ARE classy. No donations accepted, all that hard work, and they always keep a sense of humour. I'm still holding out for the 2G iPod jb, (my country sells the phones already unlocked) but I sure do appreciate all the other stuff you're doing too. It's pretty darn entertaining and very awe inspiring too. This is real hacking in the traditional and best sense of the word.

I'm thinking of selling mine and getting a phone. I had the 1G jailbroke and the 2G is just a lot less fun. I can get an officially unlocked phone, the only thing holding me back is the whopping price! Maybe after I get some bills settled in a couple months.

I'd say they're definitely IT pros of some persuasion. Most likely programmers. We're darn lucky they're smart and curious and willing to share. Can't wait to dig the 2G out of the sock drawer. I hope they can beat the latest hardware. :)

Now that the windows quickpwn is out, here's hoping they crack the ipod touch 2g. Seriously, Apple ought NOT be making it harder. If the Dev team can't for some reason crack the 2g I'll sell it and carry on using my first gen. The third party apps make it a much better device.

I finally had to try to explain it to him. He is not happy. He said, "It's like you took away Christmas!" I promised him it was highly likely the Dev Team would crack it over the weekend.

It kind of reminds me of back when only two companies were developing decent anti virus software. The whole world depends on just a few guys with amazing brains. Good luck Dev team. Please bring my husband back his Christmas, lol.
