The occupational hazard with a "horseathon" is that there will eventually be too many Mickey Rooney films thrown into the mix. National Velvet, The Black Stallion...and now this.

Suffice it to say, I have not Stablemates -- but this did not keep me from enjoying your well-written and well-researched review, Cliff. Maybe there will come a day when I'm flat on my back in the hospital and heavily medicated, allowing you (and probably Page, the minx) to sneak this into my room and forcibly put it on.

I really enjoyed this post, Clara. One of the best things about I Love Lucy is that because so much of the humor was visual, it was able to transcend language barriers and become popular in practically every corner of the world (I'll bet there are African tribesmen laughing themselves silly at "Job Switching").

And like Desi Arnaz, my favorite Cuban dish is arroz con pollo.

Miss Grant Takes Richmond definitely isn't Lucy's finest silver screen moment but I love the great character actors she gets to work with--Charles "Homer Bedloe" Lane was also on The Lucy Show in its first season but reportedly was fired by Ball because he had trouble remembering his lines.

And that bit where slaps Bill Holden around toward the end of the film -- I like to think Lucy picked that up from working with the Three Stooges in Three Little Pigskins.

I don't dislike The Mole People but you're definitely more generous to the movie that I would be. I'm just not a fan of the smirky Agar, though I do admit seeing Hugh Beaumont in this one is good for a few snickers. And I feel sorry for Nestor Paiva...why do I suspect he had a clause in his contract that stipulated he had to appear in these things?
