I concur. The real story here is the government appointing several working groups to work through the findings of the working group into mental health. Bridges didn't mention Ross, but it is Ross who seems to be craving attention. I doubt Bridges will have any difficulty ignoring Ross, and the only burn here is a self-inflicted one to the MP for Botany.

Definitely a case where the apples didn't fall far from the tree. Dad was a drug-addled skinhead; Mum thinks kids stealing other people's cars, doing burnouts and fleeing the Police is just boys being boys. Did the children ever have a chance, being brought up in an environment like that?

The management of Twitter has again been exposed as hopelessly politically biased. There have been hundreds of complaints about abusive and threatening tweets, and no action is being taken.

One tweet I saw last night suggested that the school's doors be locked with the students inside, and the place be set on fire. In response to complaints, Twitter moderators did not uphold the complaint and apply sanctions; their defence was that the comment had to be taken in context. What other context can you take on a tweet suggesting that hundred of teenage men should be incinerated?

I've done a bit of driving around North Canterbury recently. The new Belfast/Russley Road four lane expressway is fantastic, but from the end of that, it's chaos again. Matt Doocey has been pushing the government hard on its cancellation of further four-laning, and rightly so.

The bloke replies "Yes, I read in the Dom-Post that if I give up drinking, sex and critical thinking, I'll live past 100"

The doctor says "Jolly good; so which ones are you going to give up?"

The bloke replies "I think I'll give up reading the Dom-Post!"

After Mr Crewdson's editorial decision today and his response to your reader, I suspect the bloke referred to will not be alone.

That Auckland Council supports the Pride Parade but is axing funding for a parade which has enetertained generations of Auckland children and families speaks volumes for the culture and priorities of the council.

Woodhouse and Mitchell have done an outstanding job double-teaming ILG. Bridges' grilling of the PM on Tuesday was pretty good as well.

Just heard Ardern on the 10am Newstalk ZB news, and not only will she not be asking for ILG's resignation, but she will not accept it if he offers.

This does not pass the sniff test. There is something seriously dodgy going on.

I thought Bridges handled this well. He has completely denied the allegations, and put the acid on Ross to put up or shut up. If he had something to hide, I doubt he would be inviting a thorough, prompt investigation by Police.

The next round of polls should give us some indication of whether or not he can survive this. Personally, I think he has won back some lost ground over the last 24 hours. I hope the National caucus is invigorated by this, and gets back to where it was before the parliamentary recess; putting pressure on the coalition.

He didn't, actually. Bob Clarkson took Tauranga off Peters, and when Clarkson decided not to stand in 2008, Bridges was selected. He did however beat Peters comfortably in that contest.

Mallard should remain completely silent on this. The Speaker is supposed to be completely neutral, and Mallard has to date been anything but; remember the alleged "stupid little girl" interjection that no one else heard?

It is not the Speaker's role to rush to the media to drop rumours or to even clarify the PWC report.

You refer to Bridges' performance on Garner's show this morning. If Garner wanted answers, he should have allowed Bridges the courtesy of giving them, instead of cutting across Bridges constantly. If only someone would interview the PM in that manner, except it would be the last time they were allowed to.

I'm surprised the Speaker's Office has approved the wording of Q1, with Mallard being such a pedant. "Kicked out" is hardly the language we should expect in a primary question.
