Come on people, read the story. It says that
"...the commission’s work would become public once it takes a formal action – that is, after it has investigated a complaint and decided that it’s founded or unfounded."
The investigation is closed but the results are open. A grand jury is an investigation of criminal conduct and it is closed. If the grand jury brings charges, the charges are made public.

But regardless, a commission cannot force public servants to be ethical. Only an ethical culture can do that and that is a WAY bigger task.

And why, exactly, shouldn't the people who use the water pay for the dam? What is traditional about a culture of "hardworking people" expecting the government to give them a new dam?

Compare the administrative bite of Medicare and the insurance companies: Which diverts more "health care" money away from health care?
A mandate that we give our money to the most wasteful sector of the "health care" industry is worse than nothing.

The repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act led directly to the current financial situation. Any reform should break up finance conglomerates and re-erect the wall between banks, investment (speculation) firms, and insurance. Otherwise, the horse is out of the barn.

The jobs they do have to be done -- and paid for -- whether double dippers do the work or some one else.

I could buy your statement that Republicans/"conservatives" oppose Obama so vociferously because of his policies if he were making radical policy changes. But his politics are nearly indistinguishable from G.W. Bush's.
Asian wars? check
Financial sector bailout? check
Rendition for torture? check
Non-judicial trials of terror suspects? check
Support Israel unconditionally? check
Health care reform? He doesn't advocate reforming healthcare OR the insurance industry. All he's offering is mandatory insurance.
Surveillance of citizens? check
Federal control of education? check
Need I go on? The right wing has bumped its incendiary rhetoric up a notch (see Benway's link to John Perry article) because the racial aspect of the current political situation presents an opportunity for advantage. And apparently they don't care if they destroy civil society.

Obama's policies show loyalty to the status quo. The fearmongering and threats are not related to his policies. What's left? Race.

I didn't notice anyone asking the Gov if the kitchen sink is likely to make a dent in the problem. Unfortunately, it will just make the sink useless for the things we really need it for (where sink = imprisonment).

If by "liberal" you mean expanding government intrustion I would agree, but Bush II was really the main perpetrator. I agree with Gnarlodious that decentralization of power is the real issue.
"Conservative" and "liberal" have become meaningless as both parties push for more government power. We need to start looking at where things lie on the Totalitarian - Libertarian scale.

If identifying hateful behavior is conflated with behaving hatefully, then hatefulness can never be objectively discussed. Very clever tactic.

Pointing out double standards, straw man tactics, and inaccuracies is not hateful. It is, at worst, disagreement, and at best, analysis.
