And besides, Rain Man was a hundred times funnier.

Re: Five Books That Need To Be Adapted Into Movies Like Right Now | Movies

I agree, the language had tons to do with how great the book was. But, for me anyways, the overall theme of the savage brutal nature of man is what made the book appealing. Plus, Judge Holden makes Anton Chigurh look like Rainbow Brite.

And why should books be turned into movies? Easy. Take a look at any Top Whatever Movies of All Time list. Some of the greatest movies ever made were based on books. The Godfather, Schindler's List, Meatballs 3. All amazing movies.

Re: Five Books That Need To Be Adapted Into Movies Like Right Now | Movies

Think of it this way. All the good Koontz books that have been turned into movies have been awful, so obviously, an awful book will turn out good.

But really, it's all nostalgia. Yes, the book was pretty shitty and had a godawful ending, but dammit, it entertained my 10-year-old brain. If Transformers and GI Joe can be made into a movie, then so can this.

Re: 14 Sayings and Expressions that are Unnecessarily Long and Confusing | Life

It's funny that you'd bring up Orwell. The problem with these sayings isn't just that they're unnecessarily long, but that they're also cliched and unoriginal. These sayings don't make anything more vivid or illustrative because they're so overused to the point that any meaning has been stripped away. So since they don't make anything more vivid or illustrative, they're unnecessary.

And I mention Orwell because in his essay "Politics and the English Language", he condemns cliches. He says straight-up to never use metaphors that have been used over and over again. Sure, his essay had to do with writing, but shit, it can easily be expanded to include all facets of language.

Re: Five Most Kickass Fights In All Of Movie History | Movies

To be fair, it probably only took five minutes for the script for Invasion USA to be written.

INVASION USA (1985)

INT.: CHUCK NORRIS' WET DREAMS

COMMUNISTS try to take over America by blowing up Floridan suburbs.

                CHUCK NORRIS:
No.

CHUCK NORRIS blows up COMMUNISTS.

                      THE END
