Switchblade Romance. I thought it worked terrifically as a horror film with a random psychopath but the "twist" at the end was deeply disappointing.

It's got to be Blue Spring for me. I became interested in Japanese film through Adam & Joe recommending Battle Royale on a television show they once did and that led me to Snowblood Apple (Asian extreme cinema reviews) and came across a review for Blue Spring. Perhaps I was the right age and in the right frame of mind for it but it really resonated with me and it fuelled my love of world cinema.

In fact at a small festival a few years ago, I managed to meet Toshiyaki Toyoda (director of Blue Spring) and buy him a drink!
