They are amazingly delicious as a side dish. About 3 or 4 is enough, or the saltiness of the miso overwhelms your palate. Good cold the next day as part of your bento lunch.

Re: Poly And Religion: Poly And Jewish

Very interesting post. Is that custom adventure? If so, you're potentially giving away too many at lower levels, meaning you'll have more work and make the higher levels less attractive.

The $5 level is fine. The $10 is ok too but if the above is correct I'd take out the group project. Start at 1 bonus scenario at $25 then add 1 per level above that.

Custom d6s are cheap only if you buy like 200 or so up front. Chessex does them the cheapest in terms of cost and they look nice. Email them, they reply quickly.

I would try to think of anything school related that you can brand/tie-in, cause that's what's gonna make this special. Like, how awesome would a School Daze TrapperKeeper be! Think along those lines.

Ultimately keep the scope of your project in mind. A thousand bucks can be reached in no time, and then what? I would look at the Kickstarters from Machine Age Productions for ideas on lower-end projects (forget about your Dos and Technoirs, they are anomalies).

Hope this helps.

Re: School Daze Near-Final Document

Read through the playtest document. If someone deliberately starts cursing with the hashtag attached, then yeah, that's an issue. I understand it's a problem, and it either keeps the idea from being used, or is ignored on the hopes that people will behave. I expect the former.

Even so, the idea could be implemented at times for special events. At some point we'll have to accept that people say shit and fuck all the time around us anyway, so we focus on the positive and the improvement and let the crap sink to the bottom naturally (pun, well, not sure if intended or not, but it works).

Re: University should take advantage of social media outlets

I've seen this used also at conventions. Works great. Let's abscond one of the plethora of flatscreens at GC and have it continually show the #FIU Twitter hashtag.

Re: University should take advantage of social media outlets

I see Jorge's point but I also see Betsy's.
Late last year, when I was getting ready to start again at FIU, there was just a tiny SM presence. I was astounded that @FIUconnection actually was manned and helped me in some ways (thanks @mherzber). Cut to today: We now have a full-time Social Media staff for the university, one that has been using the tools and knows them well. Let's give her some time; she is, after all, fighting that bugbear we call bureaucracy.

Do I want the FIU social media presence to be more than what it is right now? You betcha. But it takes time. I actually like what Betsy has been doing so far. Is it entirely to my liking? No, but I am one of thousands. There are those who do value that kind of "banal" engagement as valid interactions. Is there room for growth and development? Absolutely, and I think Betsy will be the first to state that.

There's a laundry list of things I want to see FIU do with social media (#1. Get every school an official Twitter channel for their students - hear that, FIU Nursing?). Betsy is one, but she's the one at the top of the food chain. Her job will get easier if we student users continue to promote and challenge our own use of social media. Which is precisely what we do, and this article is a good example of that as well.

Let's be fair and give Betsy a year, at least, to get settled in and implement ideas and practices. Let's also keep her and the university informed and accountable about what we want out of FIU's social media.

I guess my (long-winded) point is: this is just the start.

Re: Dwimmermount's Cover | None | Rogue Games

Nice. The game is being marketed to your age group (as evidenced by the people shown), but my impression has always been that one of the most numerous markets for this game is people my age, late 20s to mid-30s. Furthermore, while I think your generation is perfectly fine with mingling and mixing, I think you are more comfortable doing it in an online/non-physical way, whereas my generation is far more comfortable (perhaps a bit too much sometimes) with physical-based mingling.

It might also be that you, as a person as well as a part of your specific social cohort, do not respond well to that level of physical intimacy where there is a trespassing of boundaries, thus it is registered as uncomfortable by your brain.

Just yappin'.

Re: http://betsy-pr.tumblr.com/post/1368626789

It's not spit, she's blowing her freckles onto the other girl. The campaign is Mix 2gether - the kids are shown mixing themselves up: the tattoo gets moved from his arm to her stomach; her bracers move to his teeth as they kiss; the earring becomes a lip ring; the girls exchange freckles - it's all about mixing things up, with the closing image being that of the two kids playing having mixed their bodies around.

I actually thought it was a very original ad. It took the slogan and made it a clever reality that still managed to transmit the message of the product, not *just* be memorable for the sake of being memorable.

Re: GenCon 2010: Sell Outs, Sickness and Overwhelmed | None | Rogue Games

It was a great, great show. :-)

Re: A Dutchman In New York

I'll keep that in mind. :-)

Re: #BikeAMS

The wait was well worth it, those photos are amazing.
You know, I'm Jewish, so the whole Christmas thing is not for me, but having been to Paris in 05, and seeing your very first photo, I stand by my opinion that Europe does the Christmas decorations so beautifully.
