Saying that it should be like something completely different is just being delusional.

Re: Warhammer 40k, Fantasy, Wargames & Miniatures News: Bell of Lost Souls: SNEAK PEEK: Mantic's Sci-fi "8th Race"?

Mayo, Warmahordes, and other mediums. I still don't feel Mantic, even with this release being the first not directly interchangeable with you know who, really gives a damn about what they release beyond 'yeeeeah disgruntle/profit!'.
And really man, does it really matter they've worse sculpting than you when every mini post you do has 500x the soul and direction than what they do as a company?

Re: Warhammer 40k, Fantasy, Wargames & Miniatures News: Bell of Lost Souls: SNEAK PEEK: Mantic's Sci-fi "8th Race"?

Too bad it's not a free market. Certainly not in the Western world, as much as we might all wish that was the case.

And anyway, there's a difference between GW taking from other mediums entirely - years ago, I presume, excluding some of the pop culture which by the way as a Chaos player I don't even care about - and taking direct cuts from competitors which aren't even legitimate choices (i.e. the manufacturing behind the miniatures rather than the minis themselves).

Mantic some crusading force going forth to purge the miniature market of the bourgeoise for the glory of the hobbyist proletariat. We are the demons, Panzeh. The demons are us. They're disgruntled men of Nottingham, not even some local blood like you could legitimise Warmahordes with (sorry, sorry, that's a step too far on my part - by this point Warmahordes is a legit game system and i've no right to poke fun at THAT game being that they at least have a system with depth instead of 'yeah our system's so generic, even our models look deep and flavored by comparison!')

Anyway, methinks i'm getting Templarish here. Mantic isn't the snake chewing at the industry's innards, but it is a vulture waiting for the poison to leave them a carcass. We need to deal with the community's support of disgusting practices of other companies first... or as I said, Chapterhouse.

Re: Warhammer 40k, Fantasy, Wargames & Miniatures News: Bell of Lost Souls: SNEAK PEEK: Mantic's Sci-fi "8th Race"?

Failed marketing is an easy thing to accept when a company has bigger fish to pry than me and you.
The price fluctuations both for good and ill have been passed onto you. That's acceptable as an excuse for the prices of quality models (aka: everything except from finecast)
But none of my post was on the subject of prices anyway. And besides, we're gamers and the Reddit stuff posted in the last few days is totally right - it's not stopping us from buying GW stuff, is it? And when it comes to 40k i'm fine to pay for models that actually fit in with my force, being to the same scale and such, rather than having a full army and then 'oh yeah, these conscripts? they're children or from the midget planet of Tellawllams'

Re: Warhammer 40k, Fantasy, Wargames & Miniatures News: Bell of Lost Souls: Games Workshop Ex-Employee Speaks

But of course. But all of it, it's all (except from I must say the Corporation stuff - it's really hard to call human stuff absolutely derivative) just blatant expies of GW stuff, right down to paint schemes and all. They even carry Avatars of War stuff, I believe, now, such as those lovely plastic Dwarf Berserkers which is really just a case of doubling the lack of deviation from the GW norm.

Really, can't complain as much about Mantic though. They're doing far less with the IP than Puppet Wars etc are - I mean, have you seen the Bike posted on Tabletop Fix? That thing looks identical in all except from the gun to the SM bikes. It's not even anywhere near as subtle as Mantic is... and that's saying something.

Plus, it's not as bad as the still-somehow-alive Chapterhouse Studios. That company's every release is just spitting in the face of the 'real' 40k fans (ps: yes this is the point that I realised how inane this entire response is). I find the fact that they're still in business a disturbing sign of the unrest of factions such as Nid players, that their choice to purchase still from them at the risk of supporting the very thing stopping them from their second wave (and i'm sorry but it's pretty obvious that it's derivative-now-controlled-IP like the stuff Chapterhouse has which is what stops GW from releasing the next wave, and you know it.)

It's fine for GW to be worshipped for a release where Mantic would be reviled in most cases. If it were mere space Skaven infact i'd be fine with it, because Beastmen don't even exist I don't think in 40k anymore so it's not directly competing. The moment I see ELVES however looking anything like GW, the glass house can officially be stoned, because we as consumers SHOULD actively punish companies for being prats. Anything else is just self denial.

Re: Warhammer 40k, Fantasy, Wargames & Miniatures News: Bell of Lost Souls: Games Workshop Ex-Employee Speaks

Yes
Truly
That
Has always been the case. >.>

Old news.

Re: A Look at Dark Ascension Draft Archetypes

Torch Fiend: The effect so nice you had to name it twice?

Re: Warhammer 40k, Fantasy, Wargames & Miniatures News: Bell of Lost Souls: 40K NEWS: 25th Anniversary Marine (pics)

- Expect something to be released/re-released in September for the usual £70.
