One can vote by mail in FL, in fact I did, but I've been hearing that not all mail ballot requests have been honored. I've never had a problem though, and it's easy to track your ballot if you do it by mail.

Absolutely! We boomers have had our time, it's time to move over for younger folks. I won't say that the Democratic party is moribund (yet), but absolutely younger people need to move into leadership positions. I wouldn't be sad to see Chuck Shumer replaced, for example.

I've lived in and around Washington, DC for a good portion of my life, and I cannot remember a time when Marion Barry was not an excruciating embarrassment.

CNN has a severe case of Fox envy. Personally speaking, I don't watch it at all anymore. I suppose I might if there were some all-consuming story like 9/11--in situations like that, they do a better than average job. But absent a cataclysm, CNN is the second most hackatcular network, a lame Fox wannabe, and certainly not worth wasting my time on.

President Obama, like many before him, has badly underestimated the clout the gay community has, especially when taking into account straight friends and family who bitterly resent the slurs and injustices inflicted on their loved ones.

Speaking as one of the aforementioned friends and family, it'll be a cold day in hell before I give Obama or his surrogates any more money or support. At least until there is a complete reversal of course on DOMA and related matters, and a heartfelt apology from Obama himself.
