This is really very important for our future energy usage. Most people don't have a clue as to how much energy their refrigerator uses. Heck I thought that if I got an Energy Star refrigerator that was all I needed. I had no idea that there are more efficient energy star refrigerators than others and the Europeans have found a way to be even more energy efficient with their appliances than we have.

I know I'm a big geek with stuff like this but I work for a Refrigerator Review website ( http://www.refrigeratorpro.... ) so for me this is actually amazing news.

Re: Who wouldn’t want a million bucks?

I certainly hope that people take advantage of their refrigerator recycling possibilities. I know that it doesn't seem like a big deal but I work for a refrigerator reviews website ( http://www.refrigeratorpro.com ) and we are always talking about how important it is to have your old refrigerator recycled. If it's not the freon that's bad for our atmosphere, then it's the fact that using more than one refrigerator takes up more than double the energy (old refrigerators tend to use double to triple the amount of energy than a current one).

Just my two cents but I really do hope people take them up on it.

Re: Day 241: Tightened Door Gasket On Refrigerator

Mike,

Anytime. I love the idea of what you are doing and would love to help out
with content any time I can. Just let me know.

I can also fill you in as I put up info on solar refrigerators and the like
if you are interested.

Heidi
www.RefrigeratorPro.com

Disqus writes:

Re: Day 241: Tightened Door Gasket On Refrigerator

Good for you! It really makes a great deal of difference if you do small things like this around the house! Also, if you don't already know this, your refrigerator is the one appliance that uses the most energy because it has to keep cooling all day long.

One more thing you can do is to put full gallon water bottles into your refrigerator or freezer where you don't have food. The reason for this is to absorb the cold and keep the refrigerator cold after the door has been opened. This is really helpful if you have a refrigerator that is larger than you need it to be.

Also, if you want to check into buying a more energy efficient refrigerator here's a pretty explicit page on Energy Star rated refrigerators http://www.refrigeratorpro....

Re: Baby, Let’s Get Away: A Crib Sheet to Traveling with Tots

Great post.
